From Our President
Running the Race with Perseverance
Hello dear friends,
I thought I could slip through my birthday without notice, but my staff had a different plan. I don’t know how they all made it past me. I was standing in the hall. How did they climb the stairs and make it to the area outside my office without my seeing? I turned the corner and, boom! Our whole Christian Aid Mission staff shouted, “Happy Birthday!” I laughed in total surprise as I looked at their joyful smiles. Not to mention the chocolate cake!
It really is a joy to work at Christian Aid as missionaries at home backing those on the frontline. The staff works incredibly hard for thousands of indigenous missionaries throughout the world who are reaching those who have yet to hear the gospel. It was good to see such joy as we gathered.
But it’s not just my birthday.
Christian Aid just crossed the 62 year mark. We have assisted indigenous ministries through trial and perseverance, often like a voice calling in the wilderness on behalf of those ministering in their own nations. But now other mission organizations are beginning to agree that the way to reach the most hidden people is through indigenous missions. This is what the Lord showed my husband, Bob Finley, 62 years ago. And we have been faithful to the vision.
Recently we formed a partnership with National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference. NHCLC is the largest Hispanic Christian organization representing 40,118 churches in the U.S.
The Lord is connecting Great Commission churches who are praying for the laborers, and indigenous ministries who are looking at the harvest, saying, “The fields are ripe!” He is using Christian Aid to make connections which will fund the great harvest in these last days.
We cannot do this without you. Your persistent, abundant offerings enable us to serve 560 ministries overseas that have thousands of indigenous missionaries in the field. These ministries are engaging more than 1,000 unreached people groups in more than 100 countries around the world.
We need your effectual prayers and financial teamwork to do the work of Christian Aid: evaluation, oversight, and follow-up of the ministries by our overseas directors; receipting and accounting for our supporters; disbursements and financial reporting for overseas; making the needs known; communications with sponsors. We literally operate as the headquarters for all 560 ministries, who exist to see the last tribes on earth come to Christ.
One day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:10).
As I reflect on that moment I entered the crowd of joyful staff members singing a blessing over me for my birthday, I think of the thousands and thousands of men, women and children who hear the gospel because people like you are helping. I think of a great cloud of witnesses standing in glory.
“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” (Hebrews 12:1-3)
Do not grow weary. Fix your eyes on the Lord Jesus. And run with us. We will run this race with perseverance as the Lord adds to the numbers of tribes being reached with the gospel, for His glory.
We must run together.
All glory to Him alone,
P.S. – We need you. As a faith-based mission, we depend on you to support us here at home so we can spur on the frontline workers in difficult places overseas. Your offerings toward administrative costs make an impact worldwide. Yes, we need your prayers. We also need your financial gifts. Extend the reach of the Kingdom. Ask the Holy Spirit how you can help today. Thank you in advance for your gifts. Grace to you in abundance.
