Prayerline Letter

I am very excited about your desire to push for finishing the task! I want to have a part in this effort!! Praying that the task will soon be done!! Until there is a witness for Christ in every nation.

— Jean P.

After recent scandals, I have become skeptical of the native missionary movement. I have been supporting native missionaries for decades now, but these scandals have really burnt my trust. Thank you for addressing trust and accountability in Prayerline letter.

I pray that every need will be met. Our God is able to multiply every gift. Praise His wonderful Name.

God is so good to allow me to have a part of Christian Aid’s ministry in reaching out to so many who are sharing Christ, touching lives, meeting needs and being faithful servants of our blessed Lord and Savior!

So many needs! I’d like to meet them all. I am most moved to help aid income-generating businesses. Thank you for all you do!

WE'RE NOT TRYING TO CONVERT THE WHOLE WORLD

September 2017

Dear

One day, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11)…but until then, our goal isn’t to convert every person to Christianity. That wasn’t the task our Lord gave to us in what we refer to as the Great Commission.

He tasked us with establishing a witness for Him in every nation (or “ethnos,” meaning “people group”).

This is a task that requires Spirit-led strategy and focus.

This is a task that not many Christians are engaging.

According to the Issachar Initiative, an estimated 99.7% of mission resources is directed toward where the Church is already established. Only 0.3% is directed toward where the Church has not been established.

YOU ARE THE EXCEPTION

Because you support indigenous ministries, you are one of the rare people who, like the Apostle Paul, desire for Christ to be preached in places where He has not yet been named.

“And so I have made it my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man’s foundation, but as it is written: ‘To whom He was not announced, they shall see; and those who have not heard shall understand’” (Romans 15:20-21 NKJV).

Your gifts to Christian Aid Mission serve indigenous ministries like Go International Ministries (GIM) in Nigeria. Since the late ‘80s, ministry leader, Gabriel Barau, has trained hundreds of native missionaries who’ve planted hundreds of churches among formerly unreached people groups.

And while he’s had his hands full in Nigeria, Gabriel’s compassion for the unreached caused him to look across the border to the country of Chad…a place known as the “dead heart of Africa.”

A DEAD HEART…NOW BEATING

The oppressively hot, landlocked country of Chad lacks even basic infrastructure. Its poor governance is evident in its high mortality rate and low life expectancy.

Though the percentage of Christians in Chad is much higher than most underdeveloped nations, its churches have had no strategy to reach the country’s 72 unreached people groups.

That’s where GIM stepped in, patiently training seven Chadians for five years at its School of Missions in Nigeria before sending them back to Chad. The Chadians established a primary school where they are educating 87 children belonging to unreached Muslim tribes. The gospel has begun to take root in places where Christ had never been known.

This is the fulfillment of the Great Commission.

I praise God for people like you…who support people like Gabriel Barau…who are reaching people no one else was even trying to reach.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support; thanks for being the exception.

Until there is a witness for Christ in every nation,

PS: I’m happy to report that Chad’s Christians are awakening to the Great Commission task…just last year, leaders from 22 evangelical denominations in Chad came together to strategize how to reach their country’s unreached people groups.

PPS: This month, I’ve included a place on the reply card for you to contribute to our Finishing the Task fund to help us continue finding, evaluating, and supporting ministries that are strategically reaching the unreached for Christ.
