About Benin

Benin is a long narrow country sharing borders with Togo on one side and Nigeria on the other. Benin is home to 65 distinct People groups, 13 of whom are unreached according to the Joshua Project. Benin is the birthplace of Vodoo and as such is plagued by witchdoctors, demonic possession and even human sacrifice. The largest People Group in Benin is the Fon who were the first practitioners of Vodoo.

Christian Aid supports indigenous missionaries who evangelize to many tribes in Benin who are still in the grip of Vodoun or Vodoo. Missionaries must also deal with the spread of Muslim missionaries who incite their new converts against the Christians who live among them.
