About Cyprus

Cyprus is a strategic island in the Mediterranean Sea. There are 30 distinct People Groups, 5 of whom are unreached according to the Joshua Project. The Greek Cypriots are the largest People Group and are concentrated in the southern portion of the island. The Turkish Cypriots live on the northern section of the island. So far the international community has denied Turkey´s claim that the northern part of the island is a separate country. As the descendants of Turkish Ottoman invaders who conquered Cyprus in the 16th century, the Turkish Cypriot proudly maintain Turkish customs, traditions, and language (Turkish). Almost all Turkish Cypriots are Muslim though they remain superstitious.
