About Ethiopia

Ethiopia is a fertile, mountain plateau surrounded by the drought-prone lowlands and deserts of the Red Sea coast and landlocked since the secession of Eritrea. It is home to 113 People Groups, 32 of whom are considered unreached by the Joshua Project. Ethiopia is Africa´s oldest independent nation. Ethiopia was one of the first Christian nations but Marxist regime wrecked havoc on the Christian community and radical Islam has expanded. The various Oromo people groups are the largest, most widely dispersed groups in Ethiopia. The Oromo are herdsman with a warrior tradition. The majority of the Oromo are Muslim; however, their traditional religion is still practiced by a minority of the population. These ethnic religionists worship a supreme being named Waqa.
