About Israel

Israel is a small Middle Eastern country established after WWII in response to Hitler´s genocide as a Jewish homeland. Israel is home to 50 People Groups, 41 of whom remain unreached according to the Joshua Project. The largest People Group is the Israeli Jew; most of the Israeli Jews live in cities. Attempts to start new towns and populate rural areas have been difficult. In fact, such attempts have often become scenes of ethnic unrest between Jews and Palestinians. Most of the Jews who live in rural areas are part of the well-known kibbutzim (collective farms or settlements in Israel). Rabbinical Judaism is the dominant religion of Jews in this region, and the officially recognized institutions are Orthodox. Rabbinical Judaism replaced the temple with the synagogue, the priesthood with the rabbi, and the sacrificial ceremony with the prayer service. Jews have historically proven resistant to evangelism but there is a small number of Messianic Jews who have come to realize Jesus as the promised Messiah.
