About Tajikistan

Tajikistan is a landlocked mountainous Central Asian country with 44 People Groups, 27 of whom remain unreached according to the Joshua Project. Tajikistan was the poorest republic of the Soviet Union and is the poorest country in Central Asia. After independence, Tajikistan suffered from a devastating civil war which lasted from 1992 to 1997. Since the end of the war, newly established political stability and foreign aid have allowed the country´s economy to grow but still remains fragile, largely owing to corruption, uneven economic reforms, and economic mismanagement. Freedom of religion is written in the constitution but fear of radical Islam means that Christianity is severely restricted. The majority of Tajiks are Muslims who are heavily influenced by folk traditions but there is a small Tajik church that is growing.

They need our help to train Tajik missionaries who can plant new churches in Afghanistan. ...
