Huge crowds hear the gospel as Slavik conducts evangelistic crusades throughout the former Soviet Union.

Reaping in Russia

WHEN the Soviet Empire collapsed about 20 years ago Christian Aid moved quickly to get behind native missionaries who were spreading the gospel of salvation among their people. We joined forces with Slavik who has been for the cause of Christ in Ukraine and other former Soviet states what Billy Graham has been to America. God opened wide a door for him to preach Christ to hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians, as well as Russians, Uzbeks, Tajiks, Kazaks and others. He has conducted hundreds of evangelistic campaigns, many attended by more than 10,000 people.

Tens of thousands of letters are received from listeners who accept Christ through radio and TV broadcasts in Russia, Ukraine and many other countries of the Former USSR. Hundreds of new churches have been planted as a result.
The fact that Russian is spoken in all former Soviet states, and that all of Slavik’s education was in the Russian language, has enabled him to preach to those multitudes in a language they all can understand.

At least a hundred million people have heard the gospel on Slavik’s radio and television broadcasts, made possible by support from Christian Aid. They have been aired on all existing channels in some countries. And most of those people never had a chance to hear the gospel before. Slavik receives thousands of letters every month from people responding to his broadcasts.

Since he joined the missionary staff of Christian Aid 15 years ago, Slavik has continually gone back and forth between the USA and the former USSR. In each country he contacts and evaluates indigenous ministries to determine which should receive financial help from Christian Aid. Every part of the former USSR is being reached, including the Islamic areas of Central Asia and the remotest regions of northern Siberia.

Since those who attend Slavik’s crusades are mostly non-Christians, he does not collect offerings from them during the current year. Christian Aid has a goal of receiving special gifts totaling $200,000 to cover the costs of Slavik’s gospel crusades, broadcasting ministry, personal support and travel expenses. Please pray about sending a special missionary offering for him. Use gift code 099SLR.

Christian Aid seeks to establish a witness for our Lord Jesus among unreached people groups
by assisting highly effective native missionaries who already know the languages and culture
and are getting the job done for less cost.
