Native missionaries able to penetrate Burma with funds from Christian Aid contributors
May 08, 2008
As the death toll keeps increasing and the needs become even more desperate, the rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness in high places hover over Burma like a swarm of locusts.
One native ministry leader described the situation like this: "Everything looks so dark. We are all stunned from the shock – we are numb, in a stupor."
But Christian Aid praises God for the many supporters who have responded to our call. Indeed, some people sent funds to us as soon as we made the need known! We are continuing to send funds as soon as we receive them.
Christian Aid has contact with a native missionary leader who was able to travel safely into Burma with funds sent by Christian Aid. He is meeting with other native missionaries on site in order to make arrangements for purchasing the much-needed necessities. Mosquito netting, blankets, rice and other food items will be distributed to as many victims as possible.
He is going to try and meet with authorities to obtain a permit to reach areas hardest hit. He plans to return to Bangkok (the location of his outreach ministry to Burmese in Thailand) on Saturday, and then take more funds back after Sunday. (Christian Aid is wiring funds to this ministry as soon as they are received.)
We appreciate your joining us in prayer for those who are experiencing extreme suffering – not just for the physical loss, but for the many souls trapped in despair and hopelessness. We pray that our Lord redeem this tragedy for His glory and the salvation of many souls.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12
