Workers carry an indigenous missionary's guide, who had been bitten by a highly poisonous snake, to a boat on a river in the Peruvian Amazon that will transport him to a health facility for treatment (see accompanying story). The team was scouting out unreached people in the Amazon basin of Peru. The missionaries develop relationships with tribal people by teaching income-generating skills like sewing and vegetable gardening, running feeding programs for malnourished children and taking teams of dentists and doctors. The ministry director noted that an ethnic Ashaninca man, Victor, had a stubborn and harsh character until he accepted Jesus. "Through the years of discipleship and our friendship, we were able to disciple him with the Word of God," the director said. "Now it is a joy that Victor and his young son are going every Sunday at 6 a.m. to another village two hours away, and he is teaching the Bible, sharing the gospel and leading worship meetings with the intention to plant a new congregation." Please consider a gift to empower these evangelists who brave harsh conditions to proclaim Christ's salvation.
