Ghanan women sewing.

More than a Sewing Party

A ministry in Ghana teaches women to read. Some of these women are Muslims, and when they learn to read – with the Bible as teaching text – they learn the truth about Jesus. When they put their trust in Christ for salvation, they may find themselves suddenly without any means of sustenance. “These women are shunned by their communities, cast out of their families and have no other way to care for themselves or their families except through this trade avenue,” says the director of the locally-based ministry that provides the women small-business loans. “They need a trade, so they are taught how to sew and other business ideas.” The ministry has developed this and other projects as bridges for Muslims to accept Christ.
