Syrian Children in Refugee camp.

Ignorant Bliss

One of the things that Syrian refugee children in Turkey may be blissfully ignorant of is the amount of education they've lost during the more than four years that civil war has raged in their country. Without schools, Syrian refugee families in desperate straits may send their children out to beg or even steal. A ministry based in Turkey involved in refugee aid seeks to provide a Christian school for more than 300 children of all religious backgrounds from first to eighth grade. Funds are needed to renovate a building, pay 16 teachers and provide transportation for the kids. "Children will be protected from being on the streets and the dangers of that," the ministry director said. "They'll be educated, which will give hope for future employment, and the families engaged for assistance will be open to evangelism and discipleship."
