Hearing the Word

Samburu tribal people listen to Christ being taught in north-central Kenya. Related to the Maasai people, the Samburu are semi-nomadic pastoralists who rely on ritual diviners, or shamans, to ascertain causes of illness and misfortune and guide warriors. An indigenous ministry in Kenya is reaching such remote groups in their own languages with home visits, discipleship and training. "Spiritual multiplication is taking place right in these remote, primitive areas," the ministry director said. "Many people that we have been able to reach are going door to door, sharing the love of Jesus Christ. You can see many people praying, while kneeling down on the grass. This is such a powerful revival, and you can see a huge crowd praying to receive Christ after watching the Jesus film at night." He added that the ministry needs insurance for its mission truck, saying the lack of insurance has nearly grounded the vehicle.
