Ashaninka children at a jungle village in Peru.

Light of Life

Lack of electricity notwithstanding, ethnic Ashaninka children at a jungle village near Atalaya, in the Amazon basin of Peru, fill coloring books as part of learning the Bible from workers of an indigenous ministry. Team members go to the village four nights a week to bring Christ and the Bible to children and adults. The 45 children attending instruction range in age from 3 to 14 years. "We have seen increased interest of adults and children to learn the Word of God," the ministry director said. "Despite the lack of electricity and the awkwardness and danger of lighting up with burners, this has not been an impediment to faithfully attend to learn the Word, and we have seen an increase in the attendance of adults and children."
