August 15, 2008 - Children and orphans are now a primary concern for ministries in Burma. An estimated 2,000 children were orphaned due to Cyclone Nargis. The parents or a remaining parent of other children were severely injured or traumatized. Read more.
August 8, 2008 - Freddie Sun, Director of the China Division at Christian Aid, has received several reports on how the worst earthquake in three decades has impacted indigenous ministries assisted through Christian Aid. The epicenter of the 8.2 magnitude earthquake in Sichuan Province radiated outward, causing disturbances to areas as far-reaching as Taiwan and Beijing. Read more.
July 29, 2008 - In May of this year, the monarchy reigning in Nepal for 240 years was abolished. It is now officially declared to be a Federal Democratic Republic. His Majesty, King Gyanendra, now dethroned, was obliged to leave the former Royal Palace on June 11, 2008. Read more.
July 28, 2008 - On Sunday, July 20th at 10:00 a.m. ten district police authorities stormed into the Boukham Church and ordered the believers to cease their worshipping God or else they would face arrest and imprisonment. Read more.
July 18, 2008 - Last weekend, a group of Muslim radicals raided a village in southern Chad in an effort to forcefully convert all to Islam. They burned down four churches and 150 houses, and killed several people. This is a huge threat to the fledging Church in our country. Read more.

June 30, 2008 - Christopher Djatta works to disciple and train new believers to become missionaries to their own tribes. He also helps them establish tent making projects that will allow them to support their own ministries, which are working among seven unreached tribes throughout the nation. Read more.
June 30, 2008 - Estimates are that nearly 700,000 people in the Balasore District have been stranded due to the heavy flooding caused by torrential rains. Read more.
June 24, 2008 - "We traveled 12 hours by truck over very bad roadways and then two more hours by rented boat to reach victims in SaaCin village and Cia Nay Kan, places hit hard by the cyclone. Read more.

May 22, 2008 - "Many who survived the cyclone are now on the verge of death because of a lack of food, water, or shelter from the wind, rain, and cooler weather," comes news from a ministry assisted through Christian Aid Mission. Read more.

May 15, 2008 - On Monday, May 12, a 7.9 magnitude earthquake occurred in Sichuan Province in China. The earthquake shocks reached Beijing (3.8 in magnitude) and Taiwan, 1,000 miles away. Over 18,000 people died; many thousands more are feared dead. A Christian orphanage and several Bible schools were affected. Read more.
May 13, 2008 - Today the situation in Burma is even more horrifying than it was on May 2, just after being ravaged by Cyclone Nargis. In addition to those already dead from the storm, more are dying because of injuries, illness, and a lack of clean water, food and sanitation. Read more.
May 8, 2008 - As the death toll keeps increasing and the needs become even more desperate, the rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness in high places hover over Burma like a swarm of locusts. Read more.
May 7, 2008 - Wednesday, May 7, 2008 we received the following information from another of our contacts in Burma: "We have churches in the following divisions: Yangon Division, Ayeyawady Division, Bago Division, Mon State, and Kayin State. May 6, 2008 - In the midst of the chaos wrought by Cyclone Nargis this weekend, it is estimated that the death toll has doubled since yesterday. Rangoon, the commercial capital of the country, was devastated by the storm. Hundreds of thousands of people in Burma are now without shelter or clean water to drink. Read more.
Apr. 24, 2008 - In four districts of Kenya, several thousand of our church members have been scattered throughout the country. This is all the members of 60 of our churches. We still do not know what has become of some of them. Many are living in camps. Three of our church buildings were looted and demolished. Read more.

Jan. 31, 2008 - A letter to Christian Aid from Winnie Owiti of Ebenezer Life Center, Kenya: We were finally able to contact the Red Cross today, but they say they cannot help. These believers have experienced terrible violence--15 people were burnt alive in a house and 24 others were killed. Read more.
Jan. 25, 2008 - New Home Dedicated to the Lord’s People; Khokon, one of the believers receiving help from Christian Aid, says, "We are thankful to you for helping us rebuild our homes. My home will also serve as a house church for our Lord." Read more.

Jan. 11, 2008 - Estimates say 480 houses were completely burned and another 320 were "broken", meaning that believers were forced to tear down their own homes (or churches) or face torture or death. Read more.
Jan. 3, 2008 - Violence erupted throughout Kenya soon after incumbent president Mwai Kibaki of the Kikuyu tribe was declared the winner of the December 27th presidential election. Opposition challenger, Raila Odinga from the Luo tribe, claimed the poll was rigged in Kibaki’s favor. Read more.
Jan. 3, 2008 - On December 24, 2007, many Christians in the Kandhamal District of India were preparing for their usual Christmas festivities. A quarrel broke out after a group of people approached one of the tents voicing their disapproval of the decorations being used for the Christmas celebration. Within a short time, many churches, businesses, orphanages, schools and homes had been completely destroyed. Read more.

Dec. 07, 2007 - After working among the Fulani since 2002, Christian Aid-assisted Missionary Crusaders Ministries experienced a breakthrough in August when 12 Fulani accepted Christ as their Savior and expressed a desire for a church building and primary school. Read more.
Dec. 3, 2007 - A ministry in West Bengal that Christian Aid has been assisting since 1956 is still suffering from nature’s fury after this year’s monsoon season caused the worst damage and destruction in decades. Roads were destroyed, houses washed away, hospitals evacuated, and lives have been lost. Read more.
Sep. 6, 2007 - Gabriel Barau of Missionary Crusaders Ministries in Nigeria has sent Christian Aid an urgent plea for help. Muslim authorities have threatened to seize a piece of property bought by MCM for a school of missions and discipleship. Read more.
Aug. 27, 2007 - Beginning in 1990, five Burmese gospel workers began translating the Bible into the language spoken by the Ngawn tribe, an unreached people group of 20,000. Using only a manual typewriter, the workers completed 10 copies of the translation in 2006. These copies were kept in a safe location and loaned to native believers. Read more.
Aug. 20, 2007 - An earthquake of 8.0 magnitude occurred in Peru on August 15. It was one of the worst natural disasters to hit the South American country in the last century. There are ministries supported by Christian Aid located nearby and they are able to reach the areas affected by the earthquake with help. Read more.
Aug. 17, 2007 - With the help of Christian Aid supporters, Save Africa Project, an indigenous ministry in Chad, has found strategic methods of sharing the gospel with the Muslim majority. Read more.
Aug. 7, 2007 - This year, due to the Bible distribution efforts of a Christian Aid-supported ministry in Iraq, a former major in the late Saddam Hussein’s army accepted Christ as Savior. He and his wife have also led their entire family to Christ. Read more.
