Burmese children enjoying a meal.

Eat, Pray, Love

Poor children in remote, jungle areas of western Burma (Myanmar) enjoy a meal at a Christmas event where Jesus is proclaimed. In a country where the government gives special status to Buddhism, Christmas provides an opportunity to share Christ in a non-threatening environment, the director of an indigenous ministry said. "Buddhists think of it as a usual celebration, so they didn't have any trouble with it," he said. "So many people want to know who Jesus is and why Christmas is celebrated, so many people's hearts are very, very open." The ministry also seeks assistance for its year-long outreaches – large-gathering evangelistic events, Jesus Film screening and children's ministries, among other means – to villages where Christ is unknown.

Christian Aid Mission is a 60-year-old non-profit organization that equips native missionaries around the world. We serve as a non-denominational foreign mission board that assists more than 500 ministries overseas with tens of thousands of indigenous or native missionaries in the field. These ministries are currently engaging more than 1,000 unreached people groups in more than 100 countries around the world. Our mission is to establish a witness for our Lord in every tribe and nation (Matthew 24:14) by assisting highly effective native missionaries and our focus is on reaching the unreached for Christ in areas in the world where there is no witness for Christ, where foreign missionaries are not allowed, or where Christians suffer because of poverty or persecution. Christian Aid Mission is generally considered to be the first U.S. organization to assist and promote native missionaries overseas. Since 1997, Christian Aid has been a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).

Missions Insider Report is a free email report from Christian Aid, your link to indigenous missionary ministries based in poorer countries overseas, or where evangelical Christians are a persecuted minority. Please pray for these and other indigenous ministries.
