Chaos After the Kenya Election

January 03, 2008

Riots and violence erupted throughout Kenya soon after incumbent president Mwai Kibaki was declared the winner of the December 27th presidential election. Opposition challenger, Raila Odinga, claimed the poll was rigged in Kibaki´s favor.

Because of this, hundreds have been killed and more than 250,000 displaced. Dead bodies litter the streets. As of January 3, thousands of Kenyans have fled to Uganda.

We desperately need your prayers. The Kenya situation is getting worse every day, as many innocent lives are being lost – children and mothers and fathers killed; many houses, shops and stores have been reduced to ashes.

We need your prayers at this critical time. Most of our churches in western Kenya and Mt. Elgon are really affected. Four missionaries and their families cannot be found after one week.

Please pray and help us in reaching out with reconciliation. This is a wonderful opportunity to minister the peace and love of Jesus.

Please pray for much protection and peace and political solution to the problems in our country.

We are thankful that Christian Aid always stands with us.

Blessings to you all in Jesus´ name.

P.S. More than 1000 people who live around us and church members who believe we church leaders can help, are coming to us for aid. They need food, blankets, medication and mosquito nets. We are in urgent need of grains, maize and beans to save some people from hunger, especially the older widows in our program. We are already giving two kilograms of maize and that is only enough for two days. Each kilogram is $1.00. Beans @ $ 2.00 each Kg. to go with maize will provide a balanced diet. Save a life, Please! One person at a time.
