Greg Tingson Goes Home To Glory

April 30, 2010

After more than 60 years of fruitful ministry, a pioneer apostle to the people of the Philippines has gone to his reward. Greg Tingson went to be with the Lord he served so faithfully on April 24, 2010.

Greg Tingson with Bob Finley in Calcutta, 1948

While a foreign student in the USA in 1946, Greg came to the attention of Torrey Johnson and other leaders of Youth for Christ as an eloquent preacher of the gospel. Greg teamed up with Bob Finley and traveled throughout the British Isles speaking in churches and YFC rallies. They moved on to Greece, Cyprus, and Lebanon, speaking in more youth rallies and churches. Many young people came to Christ at those meetings. When Bob Finley went on to China, Greg continued with his evangelistic ministry for several years in the Philippine islands, winning many souls to Christ throughout his native land.

During his many years of ministry, Greg Tingson was used by the Lord to establish several indigenous ministries, which reached multitudes for Christ within the Philippines, as well as in other Asian countries. One, known as Asian Christian Outreach, was begun in 1973 to conduct evangelistic campaigns in numerous East Asian countries, as well as the Philippines.

Another outstanding legacy of Greg´s ministry is Fortress College, which has grown into a premier evangelical institution of higher learning in the Philippines. Hundreds of young people who are now serving Christ were prepared in that school. Greg Tingson was the founding father.
