How To Be Fruitful and Multiply

How To Be Fruitful and Multiply

Before two native missionaries in the Philippines got married 15 years ago, they decided they wanted to have 12 children.

“We hoped that God would grant our desires, for we really wanted to have a big family,” said Marco*, who leads the ministry the couple began.

Fifteen years later, they have one child, a girl. But five years ago, by faith they began covering the costs of school uniforms, supplies and fees for five community children.

“God has given us one wonderful gift – a loving daughter who is now 13 years old,” Marco said. “We may not be able to hit our target of 12 children, but we are fully aware that God has a purpose for everything, and His ways are perfect.”

They saw the Lord’s purposes unfold as their ministry to five children grew to 24 impoverished kids.

“God has doubled our initially desired number of children,” he said.

“We may not be able to hit our target of 12 children, but we are fully aware that God has a purpose for everything, and His ways are perfect.”

Five of the schoolchildren stay with the ministry leader’s family at a camp facility, and the rest live with their families. Besides school items, the ministry helps provide food and allowances to the children. Though funding is irregular, God is faithful to supply all their needs, Marco said.

Nearly half of the children are now studying at the junior and senior high school levels. As they learn about Christ from the ministry team and put their faith in Him, their parents also are coming to Christ.

“Since we have had this project of helping less fortunate children with their school needs, we have increased our church attendance, and many doors of opportunity are being opened for Bible studies,” Marco said. “Most parents are now actively attending church activities, and they are also involved in our soul-winning efforts like tract distribution, evangelistic campaigns and feeding programs.”

He asked for prayer that all of the children would finish their studies so that they will be able to help their own families to improve their lives.

“We are very appreciative of your support and especially your prayers,” the leader said.

Native ministries are undertaking such efforts to engage and evangelize communities throughout the Philippines. Please consider assisting them to improve the lives of the poor and give them the opportunity to receive eternal life.
