In a village of more than 200 Muslim families, 10 families follow Jesus. Each Sunday, they meet in someone’s home for worship because they have no church building. It’s a small space, but they are faithful.
Recently, local missionaries visited this small band of believers to share the gospel message, encourage them to remain steadfast in their faith, and spend time with them in fellowship and prayer. “It was a joyful and spiritually uplifting occasion,” the ministry leader said.
“For some, it was a precious blessing, encouraging them to continue growing in Christ despite the challenges they face as a small Christian community.”
While there, the missionaries also distributed 20 Bibles to believers. “Many expressed great joy as they received their own copy of God’s Word,” the ministry leader said. “For some, it was a precious blessing, strengthening their faith and encouraging them to continue growing in Christ despite the challenges they face as a small Christian community.”
These families follow Jesus despite knowing that doing so in Pakistan is a dangerous choice. Persecution here is high, with converts to Christianity as well as those born into Christian families persecuted within their communities and by authorities. In addition, the country’s blasphemy laws are frequently used to intimidate Christians, and the influence of extremist Islamic groups makes Christians increasingly vulnerable.
But in this small village, these families come together regularly, and their hope—as well as that of the missionaries who visited them—is that one day, their neighbors will experience the joy in Jesus Christ that they have found. “We pray that this fellowship will continue to grow,” the ministry leader said. “We hope they will be a light in the community and lead many more people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.”
Will you help spread the gospel in this Muslim-majority country? Please consider a donation today to assist missionaries as they evangelize the unreached and disciple believers who are faithfully following the Lord. And please pray that the light of the gospel will penetrate the darkest parts of Pakistan, bringing hope and truth to those in need of a Savior.
