Mariam*, Laila*, and Huda* came to Jordan as refugees. All were from different walks of life and different countries. But all had one thing in common: all were pregnant with little to no knowledge of birth and caring for a newborn.
A local assisted ministry has long understood the critical need of supplying aid and education to women like these, and through its pregnancy support ministry, Mariam, Laila, and Huda soon began learning about pregnancy health, childbirth preparation, breathing techniques, and breastfeeding.
“Through this ministry, we seek to empower refugee families, reduce their burdens, and extend compassion and hope,” the ministry leader said. “We believe that consistent care and a genuine presence can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who are displaced, helping them experience dignity, stability, and encouragement during difficult seasons.”

The pregnancy support ministry has become an even more critical source of aid as unrest has amplified across the Middle East and people have fled to Jordan. Last year, missionaries assisted 184 women while also sharing the gospel. “We remain committed to providing practical assistance and hope in Christ,” the ministry leader said.
The Births of Beautiful Babies
Several months ago, Mariam gave birth to triplet boys, and when missionaries visited her in the hospital, they were overjoyed to see the education she’d received put into practice. “She was striving to breastfeed her babies, despite the physical challenges following her cesarean delivery and the demands of three newborns,” the ministry leader said.
Laila, one of the youngest mothers to ever enter the program, gave birth to a baby girl. “She showed confidence and determination,” the ministry leader said. “We are always encouraged to see mothers actively use the practical resources and trainings we offer.”
Due to her own health problems, Huda had been encouraged to abort her child by doctors in her home country as well as in Jordan. But she refused, and throughout her pregnancy, missionaries not only prayed faithfully with her, but they also helped cover the costs of her lab tests and visits to specialists to monitor her own health. She, too, gave birth to a baby girl.
