In places where Christ is not known, God has raised up local Christians who are uniquely gifted to effectively grow His kingdom in their homelands. These indigenous missionaries know the languages, cultures, and beliefs of the people they are reaching for Christ. Indigenous missionaries are doing 90% of all missions among the unreached today and are the reason that more of the world’s population has been evangelized since the year 2000 than in the previous 200+ years of modern missions.
Indigenous missionaries:
Last year, indigenous missionaries assisted by Christian Aid Mission shared the gospel with approximately 2 million people and planted over 4,000 churches in some of the world’s most difficult mission fields. Over the last 50 years, they have shared the gospel among a third of the world’s unreached ethnic groups.
The indigenous missionaries who receive assistance from Christian Aid Mission are under the oversight of indigenous, evangelical ministries.
We assist 230 of these ministries throughout the world, many of which are based in the 10/40 Window and all of which are actively engaged in spreading the gospel to unreached people.
Your church can partner with one or more of these ministries in areas that are closed to foreign missionaries, or where foreign missionaries would draw unnecessary attention to local believers who are living under oppressive governments that persecute Christians. Â
We can provide you with a variety of opportunities for your church to make a significant gospel impact, ranging from a monthly commitment to seeing the gospel spread in a particular country or region through ongoing missionary support or by adopting a specific impact project, such as planting a church, equipping a ministry with a vehicle, helping persecuted Christians, outreach to refugees, or supporting a school or orphanage to raise up the next generation of believers.
The premiere and foremost supporter of indigenous missions worldwide, Christian Aid Mission was founded in 1970 by Robert V. Finley, who observed the effectiveness of native Christians reaching their own people with the gospel while he was traveling throughout Asia in the 1940s as a foreign missionary.
He returned to the United States, and with support from the Billy Graham Evangelical Association and the Navigators, started International Students Inc. in 1953 to share the gospel with foreign students all over the U.S.
Christian Aid Mission grew out of the need to support the foreign students who had met the Lord in the U.S. and were returning to their own countries to spread the gospel and start indigenous ministries.
Since our founding, we have been finding, evaluating, and making the work of indigenous ministries known to Christians in developed nations who could support their vital work.
Every ministry supported by Christian Aid Mission undergoes an initial and ongoing vetting process to ensure they are biblically sound, financially accountable, evangelistic in practice, and of good reputation in their country.Â
