Fifty-one people have died and more than 1 million are stranded after recent catastrophic flooding and landslides in Bangladesh. “The southeast part of the country has been seriously affected,” a local ministry leader said. “Many people, including our believers, have lost their houses and are living in a difficult situation without food and shelter.”
Days of monsoon rains drenched the country in mid-July, triggering flash floods and landslides, including in a refugee camp, where 16 refugees were killed. “Thirty-five families connected with our ministry were affected, including families living in refugee camps,” another ministry leader said. “Also, many people have been unable to work and have lost their daily income. Low-lying areas have been flooded, and landslides have blocked several roads through the hills, cutting off transportation and making it difficult for essential goods to reach communities.”

Help is needed, and local missionaries are gathering resources and organizing teams to travel to the affected areas. “We have initiated help with food relief for 300 families, and we are planning to help rebuild houses for the families who have lost their homes,” a ministry leader said. “Each food bag costs around $20, and each home rebuild will be around $250.”
