Persecution of Christians is on the rise throughout South Asia, yet Christianity is rapidly spreading. In many areas, believers are subject to physical violence and false accusations leading to imprisonment. Northern India still contains the world’s largest number of unreached people groups; however, India’s Christian leaders are beginning to collaborate to reach them. Christians are often at the bottom of the socio-economic strata, as the gospel is taking root among low-caste populations. Though India is the world’s largest democracy, more than 300 million people live below the poverty line. Indigenous ministries provide holistic care to improve people’s situations while sharing the hope of Christ.

Ministry Highlight

Through its Bible correspondence course, a ministry in Pakistan provided thorough biblical instruction to more than 3,000 students throughout the country. They also helped nearly 900 persecuted Christians, including those whose homes were burned due to accusations of blasphemy against Islam. In their seven children’s centers, they provided Christian education to over 300 children.

How You Can Make a Difference

Radical groups in South Asian countries are actively pursuing the eradication of Christians, making ministry increasingly difficult for local believers. Higher levels of persecution have not deterred indigenous missionaries from sharing the gospel; however, they need your support to help them continue making disciples for Christ amid fierce opposition.

From the Mission Field in South Asia

Bring the Gospel to Rural Communities in Pakistan
Pray that believers in remote places will have access to gospel resources. Far from city centers, students participate in Biblical correspondence courses organized by a local ministry that seeks to educate Bible students who live in remote areas with limited access to facilities and resources. Recently, to honor their dedication to their studies, the ministry presented 10 students with Shields of Excellence. “We are passionate about reaching remote areas,” the ministry leader said. “We aim to inspire and empower individuals through both spiritual guidance and formal education.” Your donations support evangelism and discipleship such as this.
Bangladeshi Christians Face Christmas Eve Horror
As Christmas Eve dawned in Bangladesh, Christians—for a moment—tried to set aside the uncertainty and fear that has plagued the country since the political upheaval of several months prior and turn their attention to honoring the birth of Christ. But in a predominantly Muslim country, believers knew this day didn’t come without its risks. And in one village, Christians would learn that night just how deep the hatred ran against them.
Enslaved and Overlooked: Pakistan’s Brick Kiln Workers
White smokestacks mar an otherwise cloudless desert sky, their toxic fumes not only a by-product of the more than 20,000 brick kilns that exist across Pakistan, but also a sinister warning to the 4.5 million people enslaved there: You cannot pass beyond our bounds.
Voices Of The Persecuted Church
“No media has the courage to speak up on Christian persecution,” said one ministry leader in South Asia. “But God doesn’t waste our heartbreak. We are beginning to see we were brought here for a purpose.” This is the voice of the persecuted church. Their heartbreak is real. Their spiritual battle is never-ending. Sometimes, their grief overwhelms their joy and their blood stains the streets. But through their sorrow, Christ is praised. “Hallelujah!” they say. For, despite their difficulties, they “still try to gladly serve and worship our crucified and exalted King.” This is the voice of the persecuted church. Read their stories. Stand with them. Believe in the power of the cross, for its enemies will not prevail.
