Continued unrest in the world has created so many refugees who are fleeing to Europe to find safe haven. What they typically find instead is resentment and prejudice from locals, homelessness, and hunger. The indigenous ministries in this region are like an oasis in the desert for weary souls, offering refugees food, clothing, and other basic necessities, along with counseling, shelter, and help to obtain asylum, medical treatment, and other services. Most importantly, ministry workers share the gospel with them and are leading many to Christ.

Ministry Highlight

In Serbia, a ministry is supporting two church plants among the Romani people. Within the span of a few months, one of the churches baptized over 100 people. “The impact of this Romani church is huge,” the ministry leader said, “because many Romani people are coming from outside the city, region, or country to get baptized.”

How You Can Make a Difference

Indigenous ministries in Europe are taking the opportunity to share the love of Christ with the multitude of refugees who have fled their countries from war and terrorism. The practical aid that these ministries offer has opened the hearts of many refugees to the gospel message. Practical aid, however, is a constant need as indigenous ministries are inundated with requests for help. Your support will enable these ministries to provide vital food, medicine, and shelter in Jesus’ name to refugees in physical and spiritual need.

From the Mission Field in Europe

Share God’s Healing Love With Refugees in Greece
A refugee told workers at a native ministry’s refugee center that he suffered from epilepsy and had broken his leg during a seizure. Because the bones did not heal correctly, doctors planned to re-break the leg to properly fix it. He was depressed and in a lot of pain, so the ministry leader offered to pray with him. He agreed, and a few days later he returned, smiling and pointing at his leg. “I am no longer in pain! I can walk!” he said. “God is the great Healer!” Donations of $35 or $70 support outreach such as this to refugees. Pray they will hear the gospel and commit their lives to Christ.
Equip Missionaries To Impact Their Communities in Slovakia
Native ministry leaders led an evangelism training event for 65 Christian workers—primarily evangelists, pastors, and church planters—from five countries with the goal of teaching them to share the gospel through outreach, online ministry, and other seminars and trainings. “This ministry is focused on training that will have a direct impact on multiplying Christ’s followers,” the ministry leader said. “Our goal is to equip them and send them to do the same, sharing the gospel, and mentoring and equipping others.” Donations of $60 or $120 support training programs such as this. Pray for Christian leaders who teach and prepare others for gospel service.
Rejoice In The Power Of Scripture in Europe
A young girl was taught in school that humans evolved from apes. But when she began to attend a children’s program organized by a native ministry, she heard—for the first time—that humans were created by God. “Her view of the world was profoundly changed,” the ministry leader said. The children’s program engages children in various activities to share the gospel and show God’s love. “It has been a really fruitful ministry so far,” the ministry leader said. “The kids have been blessed by the word of God.” Your donations are needed to support children’s programs such as this. Pray that young hearts will be transformed by Jesus.
Encourage Believers Who Face Hostility in the Netherlands
When native missionaries shared the gospel in a refugee camp, two Muslim refugees were excited to learn about Jesus and what He did on the cross. They decided to give their lives to Christ and began to attend church services and Bible study each week. “We are thankful that we are able to visit refugee centers,” the ministry leader said. “We share the gospel with many Muslim people and give them New Testaments.” But new believers from a Muslim background face many dangers, and missionaries continue to pray for their protection. Your donations support important gospel work among refugees. Pray that the Lord watches over those who put their faith in Him.
Deliver Basic Necessities To The Vulnerable in Greece
Christian workers at a center for refugees provide compassionate aid to those who come to them for help, but they do not distribute Bibles because they do not want anyone to believe that taking a Bible is a requirement for having received aid. Instead, they gift Bibles to those who directly ask for one, which has created a ripple effect of sorts. In the last several months, an influx of refugees has come to the center just to ask for a Bible. Donations of $35 or $70 support compassionate aid to refugees. Pray they will open their hearts to Christ’s message of salvation.
Support Missionaries’ Daily Work in Europe
During a recent prayer walk, native missionaries prayed for their neighbors by name as they passed homes and apartment buildings. When they approached a gas station, the owner came outside, and the missionaries asked if they could pray for him. “No one in my life has ever prayed for me like that,” he said when they concluded. “Our walk became a time of discovery, learning more about the neighborhood with each new step,” the ministry leader said. “We stopped and prayed for all the people that God was bringing here.” Donations of $60 or $120 support missionaries in their daily work. Pray their prayers will bring transformation to their communities.
