Continued unrest in the world has created so many refugees who are fleeing to Europe to find safe haven. What they typically find instead is resentment and prejudice from locals, homelessness, and hunger. The indigenous ministries in this region are like an oasis in the desert for weary souls, offering refugees food, clothing, and other basic necessities, along with counseling, shelter, and help to obtain asylum, medical treatment, and other services. Most importantly, ministry workers share the gospel with them and are leading many to Christ.

Ministry Highlight

In Serbia, a ministry is supporting two church plants among the Romani people. Within the span of a few months, one of the churches baptized over 100 people. “The impact of this Romani church is huge,” the ministry leader said, “because many Romani people are coming from outside the city, region, or country to get baptized.”

How You Can Make a Difference

Indigenous ministries in Europe are taking the opportunity to share the love of Christ with the multitude of refugees who have fled their countries from war and terrorism. The practical aid that these ministries offer has opened the hearts of many refugees to the gospel message. Practical aid, however, is a constant need as indigenous ministries are inundated with requests for help. Your support will enable these ministries to provide vital food, medicine, and shelter in Jesus’ name to refugees in physical and spiritual need.

From the Mission Field in Europe

Tell of God’s Transforming Power in Spain
Pray for missionaries as they share the good news of Christ. An interpreter for a local ministry to refugees had a dream in which he saw a lake in a desert. The lake was filled with fish and surrounded by fruit trees. The interpreter, who was not a believer, asked the ministry leader what the dream meant. “He was crying,” the ministry leader said. “He said, ‘I don’t know what God wants to tell me.’” The ministry leader shared the gospel with him and explained that God wanted him to help transform his community. The interpreter then gave his life to the Lord. Donations of $60 or $120 support missionaries in their daily work.
Help Refugees Navigate Toward Better Lives in Greece
Pray for refugees to give their lives to Jesus. A local refugee ministry recently used its new mobile ministry unit for the first time during a visit to a refugee camp on the coast. The visit was meant to be an informative one in which the ministry workers would discuss their services with the camp authorities; however, on their arrival, they were inundated with requests for help from the refugees who live at the camp. “How can you continue to serve all these people and still smile?” one refugee asked the workers, and the question led the missionaries to share the gospel with her. Your donations of $35 or $70 support ministry to refugees.
Support Missionaries as They Assist Refugees in Greece
Pray that local missionaries will trust in the Lord’s provision as they minister to refugees. When a desperate refugee family with three small children arrived at a local ministry’s refugee center, the workers immediately provided them with emergency accommodations and began the process of helping them register as asylum applicants. Because the asylum application process can take a minimum of several weeks, the ministry ensured that the family would remain in safe housing until such time that the government could transfer them to the appropriate place. Donations of $35 or $70 help missionaries assist refugees.
Help New Believers Proclaim Jesus’ Name in Spain
Pray the light of Jesus will shine through new believers. A local missionary developed a friendship with a refugee who came to the ministry’s refugee center, learning not only that the man was a weightlifting Paralympian, but also an atheist. As their friendship grew, the missionary talked of Jesus and, eventually, the refugee gave his life to Christ. “Now, he is sharing his faith on TV and radio programs and God led him to a gold medal in the recent games,” the ministry leader said. “He is a big tool that God is using to glorify Himself in Spain.” Your donations of $25 or $50 support such evangelism and discipleship.
Encourage the Lost to Believe in Christ in Slovakia
Pray that those nearing the end of their lives will give their hearts to Jesus. Local missionaries visited a retirement home and care center for the disabled where they shared the gospel, sang songs with the residents, and offered encouragement and prayers. “Many of these people are here for a short period but also many are there for several years,” the ministry leader said. “During the years, many of them are dying, and we call this ministry the ‘Last Train to Heaven,’ encouraging people to give their lives to the Lord before it is too late.” Your donations support such evangelism.
Help Missionaries Mend Broken Relationships in Germany
Pray the gospel will transform hearts and bring people to salvation. When local missionaries learned of two Middle Eastern families in the community that had been fighting with one another for years, they decided to intervene. They presented the gospel to both families and instructed them on the gospel's guiding principles, particularly that of forgiveness. “Both families humbly came together, acknowledged past grievances, and sought reconciliation through forgiveness,” the ministry leader said. “This transformative experience showcased the gospel's ability to heal, mend relationships, and create enduring change in the community.” Donations of $50 or $100 support such evangelism and discipleship.
