Persecution of Christians is on the rise throughout South Asia, yet Christianity is rapidly spreading. In many areas, believers are subject to physical violence and false accusations leading to imprisonment. Northern India still contains the world’s largest number of unreached people groups; however, India’s Christian leaders are beginning to collaborate to reach them. Christians are often at the bottom of the socio-economic strata, as the gospel is taking root among low-caste populations. Though India is the world’s largest democracy, more than 300 million people live below the poverty line. Indigenous ministries provide holistic care to improve people’s situations while sharing the hope of Christ.

Ministry Highlight

Through its Bible correspondence course, a ministry in Pakistan provided thorough biblical instruction to more than 3,000 students throughout the country. They also helped nearly 900 persecuted Christians, including those whose homes were burned due to accusations of blasphemy against Islam. In their seven children’s centers, they provided Christian education to over 300 children.

How You Can Make a Difference

Radical groups in South Asian countries are actively pursuing the eradication of Christians, making ministry increasingly difficult for local believers. Higher levels of persecution have not deterred indigenous missionaries from sharing the gospel; however, they need your support to help them continue making disciples for Christ amid fierce opposition.

From the Mission Field in South Asia

Assist Christians Targeted for Their Faith in South Asia
Persecution against a local ministry and its house churches has increased, with several congregations and their pastors recently attacked by mobs during Sunday worship services. In two other events, the homes of three Christian families were forcibly demolished and the families were evicted from their village; and a young Christian man was assaulted by religious activists in his village. In each instance, the ministry leader has filed police reports and sought to help the victims. Your donations help provide assistance to persecuted Christians.
Help Provide Life-Changing Resources to Missionaries in South Asia
During a three-month period, local missionaries provided 100 sewing machines to Christian pastors who do not have a stable income. “This is a great tool to encourage them to learn skills for some source of regular income and help more people from their neighborhood to learn sewing to eradicate unemployment and poverty,” the ministry leader said. “Each beneficiary is committed to train another five more in tailoring skills.” Your monthly donations of $60 help support missionaries in areas of extreme poverty.
Deliver Bibles to the Hopeless in South Asia
Upon receiving a Bible from missionaries who visited his remote village, one man experienced a profound transformation. Prior to the missionaries' visit, he struggled with depression, but when he began to read the Scriptures, he found hope and a purpose for his life. "His newfound faith not only uplifted his spirit but also inspired him to actively participate in community efforts," the ministry leader said. "He became a source of encouragement and support for others." Your donations of $24 or $48 help provide Bibles to the lost.
Support Ministry Endeavors in South Asia
During a six-month period, workers from a local ministry preached and taught the Word of God daily, including in evangelism events in remote, jungle villages, where an average of 1,000 people fellowshipped together in prayer, singing, sharing of the Word, and a meal. In other places, the missionaries held weekly Sunday worship services and Bible studies, and during visits to the homes of believers, unbelieving neighbors often joined the gatherings and asked for prayer. Your donations of $50 or $100 support such daily work for the Lord.
Assist With Evangelism in South Asia
A local ministry brought together pastors and believers from 30 churches to finalize a vision for the future, which includes organizing an upcoming revival in which they expect more than 2,000 participants as well as 100 pastors and leaders from different churches. "We eagerly look forward to witnessing the power of God touch every participant," the ministry leader said. "We are filled with hope and excitement to see God's glory manifested during this meeting." Your donations support evangelism opportunities such as this.
Help Comfort and Counsel Persecuted Believers in South Asia
A local ministry is providing trauma counseling to believers who have experienced persecution. Most recently, they are helping missionaries and pastors who witnessed the destruction and burning of their churches and the beheading of people in their communities. When other churches volunteered their facilities for this counseling, workers from the ministry not only went there to assist those traumatized by these events, but they also began training the church leaders how to provide counseling. Your generous donations help support such work with persecuted Christians.
