Christianity continues to grow among ethnic minorities, and believers face increasing persecution from oppressive regimes and radical Muslims. In Myanmar, indigenous missionaries are working amid a civil war between a brutal military regime and resistance groups, providing aid and care to people who have fled their homes to take refuge in the forests. Throughout the region, ministries are discipling and training new Christian leaders, translating Scripture into local languages, and bringing hope to downtrodden people and communities through education, microenterprise, medical care, and more.

Ministry Highlight

In Myanmar, a ministry provided nearly 2,000 displaced people who fled to the forests to escape ongoing civil war with food, supplies and temporary shelters. “I received a distress call from a woman residing in one of the villages,” the ministry leader said. “She recounted how her husband had been arrested and burned alive, leaving her with four children. We offered her refuge at our children’s home, where she and her children now reside. Her children are enrolled in the school, and she assists us as a cook.”

How You Can Make a Difference

Equipping indigenous missionaries in Southeast Asia with regular support, Bibles, transportation, and training enables them to effectively share the Good News with people who have never heard the name of Jesus Christ. Your support will help ensure that people in areas unreached by the gospel will hear about the Savior.

From the Mission Field in Southeast Asia

Refresh Missionaries With Peace Of Christ in Indonesia
The leader of a native ministry travels on his motorcycle through villages tucked into the mountains and through cities and towns to preach in the name of Jesus and to train new believers as Christian leaders. Some of the places in which he and his team work have been devastated by natural disasters such as floods and volcanic eruptions. Other places are predominately Muslim. Yet, this team perseveres in their evangelism and discipleship. “I must try to have strong will or desire in bravery for the glory of my Lord Jesus Christ’s name,” the ministry leader said. Funds of $60 or $120 help support Christian workers to evangelize in these difficult places. Pray for their safety as they preach.
Share The Lord’s Mercy in Myanmar
The civil war in Myanmar continues to inflict terror and tragedy, with soldiers now going door to door demanding that men ages 18 to 35 join the military. A native ministry’s building that housed more than 60 children and young people was destroyed by a bomb, and one of its churches in another village was also destroyed during fighting. Missionaries bring the gospel message to refugees living at the border who have escaped the military’s weekly bombings of their villages, and donations help support evangelism in these dangerous times. “Please keep Myanmar in your prayers,” requested the ministry leader.
Deliver Hope And Healing in Southeast Asia
A man who attended a ministry’s medical outreach clinic heard the gospel and chose to follow Christ. The pastor in his village was overjoyed when he heard the news because not only had he already discussed Jesus with the man many times, but he also has built a friendship with him. “Thank you very much for your faithful prayer support for the medical outreach,” the ministry leader said. More than 220 people came for treatment during the three-day event, and ministry workers led six to seven people to the Lord. Donations help support medical missions such as this. Pray for continued evangelism opportunities during community outreach events.
Help Missionaries Shepherd the Faithful in Indonesia
A young man from a broken home was curious about the gospel, and his internet search led him to connect with a worker from a native ministry. The worker began to disciple him, and soon, he gave his life to Christ and was baptized. As he learned about Christ’s forgiveness and delved deeper into Scripture, he was able to forgive his own parents, and when his friends bullied him because of his faith, he remained steadfast. Now, he is considering attending Bible school. Donations support native missionaries in their discipleship work. Pray they will joyfully share Christ’s love with all whom they encounter.
Restore Hope in Jesus’ Name in Cambodia
Nearly three years ago, a 47-year-old prostitute infected with HIV began listening to a native ministry’s radio program. She had spent much of her life filled with hatred toward men and had pledged to infect as many as possible with the disease that ravaged her body. But through the radio broadcasts, the Holy Spirit began to transform her, and recently, she publicly gave her life to Christ during one of those broadcasts. Now, she has left behind her life of prostitution and is committed to becoming an evangelist. Your donations support outreach such as this ministry’s radio program. Pray that those who hear the gospel message will give their lives to Jesus.
Support Life-Changing Gospel Work in the Philippines
Christian workers returned to a community to lead a Bible study for new believers with whom they had shared the gospel a month prior. During their fellowship, however, people from surrounding areas grew curious about the gathering, and the Bible study evolved into an evangelism event. During this time, the missionaries distributed food to the children in attendance and also gifted chicks to the tribal leaders to help support their livelihood and that of their communities. Donations enable native missionaries to conduct outreach such as this. Pray they will continue to follow the Holy Spirit’s lead when opportunities arise to share the good news of Jesus.
