Christianity continues to grow among ethnic minorities, and believers face increasing persecution from oppressive regimes and radical Muslims. In Myanmar, indigenous missionaries are working amid a civil war between a brutal military regime and resistance groups, providing aid and care to people who have fled their homes to take refuge in the forests. Throughout the region, ministries are discipling and training new Christian leaders, translating Scripture into local languages, and bringing hope to downtrodden people and communities through education, microenterprise, medical care, and more.

Ministry Highlight

In Myanmar, a ministry provided nearly 2,000 displaced people who fled to the forests to escape ongoing civil war with food, supplies and temporary shelters. “I received a distress call from a woman residing in one of the villages,” the ministry leader said. “She recounted how her husband had been arrested and burned alive, leaving her with four children. We offered her refuge at our children’s home, where she and her children now reside. Her children are enrolled in the school, and she assists us as a cook.”

How You Can Make a Difference

Equipping indigenous missionaries in Southeast Asia with regular support, Bibles, transportation, and training enables them to effectively share the Good News with people who have never heard the name of Jesus Christ. Your support will help ensure that people in areas unreached by the gospel will hear about the Savior.

From the Mission Field in Southeast Asia

Assist With Gospel Outreach in Cambodia
Through a native ministry’s radio program, millions of people have heard the gospel, and approximately 100 to 150 people became believers during a two-month period. “Glory to our almighty God, and our Lord Jesus Christ!” the ministry leader said. Missionaries see their country as ripe for harvest and regularly conduct home visitations, pray for their communities, and answer questions about Christ. “We can do all these things because of Christ who is living within us and also through you, who share our concerns about the people and nation of Cambodia,” the ministry leader said. Your donations support evangelism outreach such as this. Pray for a spiritual revival for the people of Cambodia.
Lift Up New Followers Of Christ in Thailand
A construction worker who attended church for years would not commit his life to Christ because of pressure from his family. But during an event organized by a native ministry, the Holy Spirit convicted him, and he and his wife knelt together and accepted Christ as Savior. Since that time, he has become a faithful member of the church and shares the gospel with others. He is one of 50 who were baptized by ministry workers in a six-month period and, as a newly baptized believer, he also received a Bible. Your gifts support outreach and discipleship in the country. Pray the lost will be moved by the Holy Spirit to commit their lives to Christ.
Make Disciples Despite Challenging Times in Southeast Asia
Despite challenging times in the region, ministry leaders trust that God has not forgotten them. “Even in these difficult times, we see God’s grace,” one leader said. His ministry recently completed a Bible translation revision, and the ministry’s Bible school, which has been in existence for 28 years, held its traditional three-day missions conference as part of its graduation events. More than 200 students attended, as well as 29 missionaries and 11 faculty. “We all expressed our gratitude to the Lord for His abundant blessings upon us,” the ministry leader said. Donations of $60 or $120 are needed for missionary support. Pray the Lord will continue to bless workers in these difficult times.
Share The Hope Of Christ in Myanmar
Evangelism seems impossible in the war-torn country, but missionaries persevere, traveling to villages and preaching the gospel, baptizing new believers, and fellowshipping. “As you know, the situation in our country is getting worse,” one ministry leader said. “But by the grace of God we try our best to reach our people with the gospel of Jesus Christ.” One missionary now preaches to refugees at the border, and others go house to house, telling families about Christ. Donations of $25 or $50 support evangelism efforts. Pray the Lord’s protection over missionaries as they minister in His name.
Lift Up Ministries In Difficult Circumstances in the Philippines
Missionaries are disheartened by men’s lack of engagement with evangelism efforts in Muslim communities. “The demographic phenomenon of women numbering twice as high as men among churches and Christian communities has become the number one challenge for our team,” a ministry leader said. Three of the ministry’s six teams are full of young women, which poses an evangelism challenge in a culture where men will only listen to other men on spiritual issues. Donations of $60 or $120 help support missionaries. Pray for “wisdom and intentionality for the retiring male missionaries in training their replacements and in encouraging male involvement,” the ministry leader requests.
Make Disciples For The Lord in Indonesia
Many believers lack a deep understanding of the Bible and often feel defeated when their Muslim neighbors attack Christian beliefs. Native missionaries have recognized this problem, however, and have begun establishing Bible studies with the intent of equipping believers with sound Biblical doctrine. These groups meet nearly every day for several hours. One man who became a Christian as a child was never allowed to attend church. But through this Bible study program, his faith deepened and he was baptized at 40 years old. Your donations are needed for discipleship such as this. “Please pray for this discipleship ministry,” the ministry leader requests. “May God give us strength and wisdom.”
