Christianity continues to grow among ethnic minorities, and believers face increasing persecution from oppressive regimes and radical Muslims. In Myanmar, indigenous missionaries are working amid a civil war between a brutal military regime and resistance groups, providing aid and care to people who have fled their homes to take refuge in the forests. Throughout the region, ministries are discipling and training new Christian leaders, translating Scripture into local languages, and bringing hope to downtrodden people and communities through education, microenterprise, medical care, and more.

Ministry Highlight

In Myanmar, a ministry provided nearly 2,000 displaced people who fled to the forests to escape ongoing civil war with food, supplies and temporary shelters. “I received a distress call from a woman residing in one of the villages,” the ministry leader said. “She recounted how her husband had been arrested and burned alive, leaving her with four children. We offered her refuge at our children’s home, where she and her children now reside. Her children are enrolled in the school, and she assists us as a cook.”

How You Can Make a Difference

Equipping indigenous missionaries in Southeast Asia with regular support, Bibles, transportation, and training enables them to effectively share the Good News with people who have never heard the name of Jesus Christ. Your support will help ensure that people in areas unreached by the gospel will hear about the Savior.

From the Mission Field in Southeast Asia

Support Missionaries Through Difficult Days in Myanmar
A native ministry has been unable to communicate with many ministry workers because of the ongoing civil war. In April, one worker’s village was bombed, and he fled to the jungle. He has not been heard from since that time. A ministry worker in another place fled with his neighbors after a heavy battle in their village. “Out of 62 pastors, 16 still cannot go back to their own ministries,” the ministry leader said. Donations of $60 or $120 support native ministries during these difficult times. “Please continue to pray for these pastors,” the ministry leader requests. “We can’t help all of their church members, but at least we would love to help our pastors.”
Bring Hope to Children Affected by War in Myanmar
Pray for students as they attend school during war time. Despite the ongoing civil war, a local ministry’s Bible school continues to flourish. Nearly 500 students from preschool through ninth grade attend, and 145 students are enrolled at the Bible college. “It’s clear that we are experiencing a very dark period,” the ministry leader said. “However, even in the midst of such darkness, God remains unchanging. We are able to teach the Word of God to the children every day. This is a precious opportunity for us to impart important truths to young people.” Donations of $30 or $60 are needed to support children and youth.
Lift the Lost Into Christ’s Arms in the Philippines
Pray the power of the gospel will transform lives. After his release from a three-year prison sentence, a man heard the gospel from a local missionary and gave his life to Christ. Now, he is being discipled by the ministry leader, he assists the pastor at a newly planted church, and his transformation has become a powerful testimony to his family and community. “Everyone in the village was shocked but delighted for who he is now,” the ministry leader said. “Everyone will tell me ‘Do you know who he was before?’” Your donations support evangelism and discipleship.
Spread the Light of Christ in Vietnam
Pray the light of the Lord will break spiritual strongholds. Though a woman heard the gospel many times from a local missionary, her heart was hardened against its truth. But one day, she admitted to the missionary that she rarely slept because the devil visited her room, and she was always afraid. “Can Christ help me?” she asked. The missionary shared Jesus with her again, and this time, she accepted Him as Savior. Her life was so transformed that her husband and children also became believers. “I believe in Christ,” she said. “Because the Lord gave me peace and I can sleep at night.” Your donations assist local missionaries as they serve in spiritually dark places.
Provide Medical Aid to the Sick in the Philippines
Pray the gospel message will bring hope to the sick and suffering. With a team of volunteers, an indigenous missionary who is also a doctor provided free medical consultations to dozens of people in several rural villages. Before he provided these services, however, he shared the gospel with all those who came for his services. “All glory and honor to God alone!” the ministry leader said. Medical missionaries also conducted a free clinic in another area in which more than 200 people heard the gospel and received free health care and medicine. Your donations of $30 or $60 enable missionaries to share Christ’s love through medical outreach such as this.
Lift the Lost Out of False Religions in Cambodia
Pray for indigenous pastors as they lead their flocks in Jesus’ name. Before he became a believer, a pastor from a local ministry was addicted to alcohol and gambling. But when he gave his life to Jesus, everything changed. Now, he preaches the gospel at every opportunity and works alongside other Christian leaders to protect believers from unbiblical teachings and cults. “The people who are living within our community can see that we as Christians are living, speaking, and acting differently from those who are still of the world,” he said. Your donations support Christian workers in their service to the Lord.
