Christianity continues to grow among ethnic minorities, and believers face increasing persecution from oppressive regimes and radical Muslims. In Myanmar, indigenous missionaries are working amid a civil war between a brutal military regime and resistance groups, providing aid and care to people who have fled their homes to take refuge in the forests. Throughout the region, ministries are discipling and training new Christian leaders, translating Scripture into local languages, and bringing hope to downtrodden people and communities through education, microenterprise, medical care, and more.

Ministry Highlight

In Myanmar, a ministry provided nearly 2,000 displaced people who fled to the forests to escape ongoing civil war with food, supplies and temporary shelters. “I received a distress call from a woman residing in one of the villages,” the ministry leader said. “She recounted how her husband had been arrested and burned alive, leaving her with four children. We offered her refuge at our children’s home, where she and her children now reside. Her children are enrolled in the school, and she assists us as a cook.”

How You Can Make a Difference

Equipping indigenous missionaries in Southeast Asia with regular support, Bibles, transportation, and training enables them to effectively share the Good News with people who have never heard the name of Jesus Christ. Your support will help ensure that people in areas unreached by the gospel will hear about the Savior.

From the Mission Field in Southeast Asia

Provide Medical Aid to the Sick in the Philippines
Pray the gospel message will bring hope to the sick and suffering. With a team of volunteers, an indigenous missionary who is also a doctor provided free medical consultations to dozens of people in several rural villages. Before he provided these services, however, he shared the gospel with all those who came for his services. “All glory and honor to God alone!” the ministry leader said. Medical missionaries also conducted a free clinic in another area in which more than 200 people heard the gospel and received free health care and medicine. Your donations of $30 or $60 enable missionaries to share Christ’s love through medical outreach such as this.
Lift the Lost Out of False Religions in Cambodia
Pray for indigenous pastors as they lead their flocks in Jesus’ name. Before he became a believer, a pastor from a local ministry was addicted to alcohol and gambling. But when he gave his life to Jesus, everything changed. Now, he preaches the gospel at every opportunity and works alongside other Christian leaders to protect believers from unbiblical teachings and cults. “The people who are living within our community can see that we as Christians are living, speaking, and acting differently from those who are still of the world,” he said. Your donations support Christian workers in their service to the Lord.
Help Missionaries Share the Gospel Message in Myanmar
Pray the Lord will comfort those displaced by war. As part of their work, indigenous missionaries visit members of a particular ethnic group who are currently living in a camp for internally displaced people due to the ongoing civil war. During a recent visit, 10 people—nine Buddhists and one Muslim—gave their lives to Christ and were baptized. “The Lord blessed our mission in the camp,” the ministry leader said. “Now they all have seen the miracle work of Jesus in their lives.” Your donations help support missionaries as they travel to share the gospel in these dangerous times.
Expand the Lord’s Kingdom in Cambodia
Pray that indigenous missionaries will serve the Lord with gladness. An 84-year-old indigenous missionary who was once a military leader became a believer through the evangelism of a young pastor. Now, the older man serves as a pastor in a small village where he lives with his family, preaching the gospel and helping the poor and elderly. “I do not only preach the gospel of salvation through Christ Jesus, but I am also living the gospel through love and caring for one another,” he said. “I am so honored to be a part of Christ’s kingdom among my fellow countrymen.” Your donations support missionaries in their everyday work.
Assist Missionaries as They Serve Others in Indonesia
Pray for missionaries as they serve their communities during challenging economic times. As part of their outreach to the community, a team of local missionaries goes house to house to distribute resources such as food, rice, sugar, and tea. They also deliver these things to orphans, some of whom have special needs. At each place, the missionaries share the gospel and pray over the people. “May He bless our good efforts in the very precious job of Christ’s gospel mission field,” the ministry leader said. Donations of $60 or $120 are needed to support outreach such as this.
Support Ministry to Displaced People in Myanmar
A 6-year-old boy and two of his siblings now live at a children’s home run by a native ministry because their father—a poor farmer—was concerned that their village might soon be destroyed in the ongoing civil war. Another group of siblings and their mother also recently arrived at the home after their father was presumed killed by the military. The ministry was able to employ their mother because she once was a part-time teacher. Donations of $35 or $70 support aid such as this to those displaced through war and other turmoil. Pray the Lord will protect those living through such challenging times.
