Christianity continues to grow among ethnic minorities, and believers face increasing persecution from oppressive regimes and radical Muslims. In Myanmar, indigenous missionaries are working amid a civil war between a brutal military regime and resistance groups, providing aid and care to people who have fled their homes to take refuge in the forests. Throughout the region, ministries are discipling and training new Christian leaders, translating Scripture into local languages, and bringing hope to downtrodden people and communities through education, microenterprise, medical care, and more.

Ministry Highlight

In Myanmar, a ministry provided nearly 2,000 displaced people who fled to the forests to escape ongoing civil war with food, supplies and temporary shelters. “I received a distress call from a woman residing in one of the villages,” the ministry leader said. “She recounted how her husband had been arrested and burned alive, leaving her with four children. We offered her refuge at our children’s home, where she and her children now reside. Her children are enrolled in the school, and she assists us as a cook.”

How You Can Make a Difference

Equipping indigenous missionaries in Southeast Asia with regular support, Bibles, transportation, and training enables them to effectively share the Good News with people who have never heard the name of Jesus Christ. Your support will help ensure that people in areas unreached by the gospel will hear about the Savior.

From the Mission Field in Southeast Asia

Tell of Christ’s Love for All in Myanmar
Pray for new missionaries as they prepare to serve the Lord. A local ministry is training six believers—one married man, two single young men, and three single young women—at its Bible college with the goal of sending them to their own communities to share the gospel. “These students have a great burden for their own people,” the ministry leader said. ‘God willing, these young people will be actively reaching them with the gospel truth, caring for them closely, and following up with new believers and the ones who have heard the gospel but have not yet become Christians.” Donations of $25 or $50 help support missionaries in their gospel work.
Assist With the Great Commission in Southeast Asia
Pray the Word of God will impact those who hear it. A local ministry recently celebrated the fourth year of its radio ministry, which is heard by approximately 2 million people each week, with 10 to 12 people giving their lives to Jesus each week. The ministry is also excited about increasing its audience with the radio program’s recent expansion into television. “We are so thankful for the impact this is having not only on those in Cambodia, but for others around the world,” the ministry leader said. “We return all the praise and glory to our only Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.” Your donations assist with outreach such as this.
Tell of the Lord’s Unconditional Love in the Philippines
Pray that missionaries will joyfully share the gospel with all they encounter. Christian workers with a local ministry do not hesitate to evangelize at every opportunity. Recently, several missionaries visited a market in their community to share the gospel with the vendors and people who shopped there. Several days later, the missionaries conducted house-to-house evangelism in another community. “By God’s grace, most if not all those they witnessed to accepted the Lord Jesus into their lives,” the ministry leader said. “Sharing the gospel in neighborhoods, parks, and classrooms is also being done in practically all areas of the ministry.” Donations assist with evangelism and outreach.
Support Missionaries Who Stand Against Opposition in the Philippines
Pray the Lord will guide missionaries through spiritual warfare. Over the years, the people in an indigenous village grew fearful of an older woman known for her voodoo dolls, poisonous oils, and worship of dead relatives. Despite the persecution suffered by local missionaries at her hand, they persisted in sharing the gospel, and her relatives gave their lives to Jesus. Then, one day, the older woman surrendered to Christ too. “Her relatives and neighbors are shocked and can't believe the change,” the ministry leader said. “There is no more fear because the leader of witchcraft is now telling about Jesus.” Your donations of $25 or $50 help missionaries persevere in their gospel work.
Spread the Good News of Jesus in Laos
Pray the Word of God will reach those who long to know more about Him. Local missionaries distributed MP3s with Christian content—including audio Bibles—to believers who were delighted with the gifts because they can use them while they work in the rice fields as well as share their content with those who don't yet believe in Jesus. “Many hear interesting messages and songs and are very curious about the content,” the ministry leader said. “Some are very happy to have the audio Bible as they can listen to it in their language.” Your donations support local missionaries in evangelism and discipleship outreach.
Help Christian Workers Lead Local Congregations in Cambodia
Pray for missionaries who lead congregations in remote places. A widow in a poor and isolated community has led a church in her home for the last 25 years. “People are struggling day in and day out, but it opens more opportunities for me to minister the gospel to them,” she said. Her village chief, while not a Christian, permits her to share her faith with others in the village, and she thanks God for the freedom she has to do so. “I praise God for all that He has done in my life,” she said. Donations of $25 or $50 support local missionaries as they shepherd congregations in their communities.
