Latin America’s Protestant population is booming, yet the region is still home to high numbers of unreached people groups. Brazil tops the chart of Latin American countries with the most unreached people groups. Mexico is second, followed by Peru and Colombia. Among Christians, lack of trained leadership is a challenge that has led to false teaching within some churches. Indigenous missionaries are sharing the gospel with tribes in the Amazon Jungle and the Andes Mountains, dangerous criminals in prisons, and vulnerable children. Their holistic approach ministers to people’s practical and spiritual needs, and they meticulously disciple and train those whom they lead to Christ.

Ministry Highlight

In Colombia, an indigenous ministry set up feeding centers at 22 of their congregations, providing food to more than 900 children and elderly people every Sunday. “Many of these meals were served in communities where families live around the garbage dumps of towns and cities. They make a living collecting paper, plastic, and metal, which will be sold to obtain money to support their families. By caring for children, we are helping to spread the gospel, since many of these parents consider that the food their children receive at church is the best food these children receive during the week,” the leader said.

How You Can Make a Difference

Indigenous missionaries in Latin America persevere in sharing the gospel in some of the world’s most dangerous mission fields—where gangs, drug traffickers, and hostile animist communities view them as a threat to their territories. They need your support to help them enter towns and villages through community engagement projects like small businesses and vocational training centers, which have proven effective in opening hearts to the gospel message.

From the Mission Field in Latin America

Share the Joy of the Lord in Argentina
A 25-year-old blind woman suffered from depression because of her physical limitations. But one day, a native missionary visited her and shared the gospel. The woman gave her life to Christ and another woman from the local church immediately began to disciple her. Now, she is free of her depression, sings and serves in the church, and shares her testimony with her friends who are also blind. “She reports that now God has given her spiritual eyes,” the ministry leader said. Your donations support evangelism and discipleship. Pray that new believers will be provided the resources they need to deepen their faith in Jesus.
Encourage the Lost With the Gospel Message in Mexico
An 8-year-old boy and his parents began attending a church that was led by native missionaries. The boy had been diagnosed with brain tumors that caused him to suffer frequent seizures and he was declared blind and needed a corneal transplant. The congregation joined with him and his parents and prayed for his health. Several months later, the boy announced to the church that his tumors were gone, and his vision could be corrected with a simpler treatment. He acknowledged the Lord’s power in his life. Your donations help sustain local churches such as this one. Pray that believers will trust the Lord with every aspect of their lives.
Share The Joy Of Salvation in Paraguay
The death of their son devastated a husband and his wife, and their heartbreak turned their lives into a series of difficult trials. But one day they chose to attend church together, and after telling their story to a native missionary, they began the long journey toward healing. Through many pastoral visits and counseling, they eventually chose to follow Jesus and asked to be baptized. “God has given them a new hope of life,” the ministry leader said. Your donations support discipleship such as this. Pray that Christ’s mercies will be abundant on those who are grieving.
Support Outreach In Remote Jungle Regions in Brazil
Native missionaries received word that members of an indigenous tribe in a remote and dangerous part of the jungle were dying of malaria. At the tribe’s request for help, the missionaries sent medicine to aid the sick, and their assistance opened the door to share the gospel. “Only the power of the gospel can reach and transform an isolated people so far away,” the ministry leader said. Donations of $25 or $50 support missions work in such remote places. Pray the Lord’s protection over the Christian workers who journey to places such as this to share the good news of Jesus.
Celebrate The Gospel’s Transforming Power in Latin America
A native missionary arrived in a town in which his ministry had never worked and began a small house church. After some time, a few people were baptized. Then, the Bible studies began to extend far into the night because people did not want to leave. After a while, so many people attended that the missionary had to preach in two additional locations. “God walks through the streets bringing revival and new life in a city that seemed dead,” the ministry leader said. Your donations support church planting and evangelism. Pray that new believers are filled with the joy of Jesus.
Be The Salt Of The Earth in Peru
A violinist gave offerings to demonic pagan gods in hopes they would help him become famous. His fame grew, but so, too, did his addiction to it. When his wife gave her life to Christ, he had no interest in her testimony until one day when he became lost in the Andes. Certain he was going to die, he prayed to Jesus, and when he safely made it home, he went to the local church and accepted Jesus as his Savior. Now, he uses his music and testimony to share the gospel. Your donations are needed to support missionaries as they disciple new believers. Pray the light of Christ will break spiritual strongholds.
