Latin America’s Protestant population is booming, yet the region is still home to high numbers of unreached people groups. Brazil tops the chart of Latin American countries with the most unreached people groups. Mexico is second, followed by Peru and Colombia. Among Christians, lack of trained leadership is a challenge that has led to false teaching within some churches. Indigenous missionaries are sharing the gospel with tribes in the Amazon Jungle and the Andes Mountains, dangerous criminals in prisons, and vulnerable children. Their holistic approach ministers to people’s practical and spiritual needs, and they meticulously disciple and train those whom they lead to Christ.

Ministry Highlight

In Colombia, an indigenous ministry set up feeding centers at 22 of their congregations, providing food to more than 900 children and elderly people every Sunday. “Many of these meals were served in communities where families live around the garbage dumps of towns and cities. They make a living collecting paper, plastic, and metal, which will be sold to obtain money to support their families. By caring for children, we are helping to spread the gospel, since many of these parents consider that the food their children receive at church is the best food these children receive during the week,” the leader said.

How You Can Make a Difference

Indigenous missionaries in Latin America persevere in sharing the gospel in some of the world’s most dangerous mission fields—where gangs, drug traffickers, and hostile animist communities view them as a threat to their territories. They need your support to help them enter towns and villages through community engagement projects like small businesses and vocational training centers, which have proven effective in opening hearts to the gospel message.

From the Mission Field in Latin America

Break Spiritual Strongholds With The Gospel in Ecuador
A witch rules over an indigenous tribe deep in the jungle, and he threatens to kill through witchcraft anyone who attempts to introduce the gospel to his people. Despite his warnings, native missionaries have begun to visit one tribal village, and they pray that God will open the door for them to eventually share the gospel. “It is part of our Christian obligation to help members of the community in whatever is within our reach and in accordance with our level of faith,” the ministry leader said. Your donations support outreach such as this. Pray that God will open hearts to hear His message of salvation.
Lift Up The Disheartened in Colombia
A woman grew bitter and reclusive because of sores that covered her body, and she visited witches in hopes they could heal her. Nothing worked. When her neighbor invited her to a native ministry’s evangelism event, she reluctantly agreed to attend. “That night she took the step of faith and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior,” the ministry leader said. A missionary prayed for her healing and discipled her, and her sores disappeared over time. “Today, she is a very kind and helpful woman,” the ministry leader said. Donations of $25 or $50 support missionaries’ evangelism efforts. Pray their compassion will lead the lost to Christ.
Tell Of The Mercies Of Christ in Mexico
After a native missionary shared the gospel with a construction worker near his church, the man asked the missionary to go with him to his hometown and meet his wife, who had cancer. Upon hearing the gospel, the woman gave her life to Christ, and she and her husband asked the missionary to return and plant a church. “We believe that our almighty God is making a way in that place and that our Lord is in control of all things,” the ministry leader said. Donations of $25 or $50 assist missionaries in these evangelism opportunities. Pray for spiritual transformation for those who hear the word of the Lord.
Bring The Gospel To Jungle Villages in Brazil
Many hearts turned to Jesus following native missionaries’ evangelism in a village deep in the jungle. “God has done wonders in the midst of that people,” the ministry leader said. Now, the villagers have become self-sustaining through the production of their own coffee as well as through the production of acai, chestnuts, and paprika. “They have won awards and they say that, after the gospel arrived, God has blessed the community,” the ministry leader said. Your donations help native Christian workers evangelize in remote places. Pray the joy of the Lord will overflow in the lives of those who accept His message of salvation.
Lead The Lost To Jesus in Argentina
A prison guard at a women’s prison met Christian workers who came to the prison to lead a Bible study with the inmates. While the missionaries waited to be admitted into the chapel, they conversed with and, ultimately, shared the gospel with the guard. She admitted that her father read the Bible with her when she was a child, and through the conversation with the missionaries, she was reminded of the commandment to worship God. “Through tears, she prayed the prayer of faith,” the ministry leader said. “God is so good!” Your donations support Christian workers as they follow God’s lead. Pray they will persevere in their gospel work.
Lead the Lost Out of Spiritual Darkness in Bolivia
Pray the Holy Spirit will transform the lives of the lost. A man, his wife, and their six children attended an evangelism event organized by a local ministry in a rural part of the Andes. During the event, the Lord touched their hearts, and every member of the family surrendered their life to Christ. Afterward, the man asked one of the missionaries to accompany the family to their home and help him remove the idols he had buried across their property. Now, the man is being discipled by the missionary, and he and his family attend the local church. Donations support missionaries in their evangelism and discipleship efforts.
