Latin America’s Protestant population is booming, yet the region is still home to high numbers of unreached people groups. Brazil tops the chart of Latin American countries with the most unreached people groups. Mexico is second, followed by Peru and Colombia. Among Christians, lack of trained leadership is a challenge that has led to false teaching within some churches. Indigenous missionaries are sharing the gospel with tribes in the Amazon Jungle and the Andes Mountains, dangerous criminals in prisons, and vulnerable children. Their holistic approach ministers to people’s practical and spiritual needs, and they meticulously disciple and train those whom they lead to Christ.

Ministry Highlight

In Colombia, an indigenous ministry set up feeding centers at 22 of their congregations, providing food to more than 900 children and elderly people every Sunday. “Many of these meals were served in communities where families live around the garbage dumps of towns and cities. They make a living collecting paper, plastic, and metal, which will be sold to obtain money to support their families. By caring for children, we are helping to spread the gospel, since many of these parents consider that the food their children receive at church is the best food these children receive during the week,” the leader said.

How You Can Make a Difference

Indigenous missionaries in Latin America persevere in sharing the gospel in some of the world’s most dangerous mission fields—where gangs, drug traffickers, and hostile animist communities view them as a threat to their territories. They need your support to help them enter towns and villages through community engagement projects like small businesses and vocational training centers, which have proven effective in opening hearts to the gospel message.

From the Mission Field in Latin America

Encourage Hardened Hearts to Trust the Lord in Ecuador
Pray that those who hear the gospel message break free of their spiritual bondage. A man who was once known as a river pirate because he attacked canoes and stole belongings—including boat motors—happened upon a local ministry’s evangelism event and heard the gospel for the first time. The salvation message touched his soul, and he gave his life to Jesus that day. Now, not only is he a member of his local church, but he also evangelizes local gang members who commit the same crimes he was once guilty of committing. Your donations of $25 or $50 support such life-changing outreach and evangelism.
Be the Generous Hands of Jesus in Argentina
Pray the poor and vulnerable will trust the Lord to provide for their needs. During a local ministry’s regular Bible study, missionaries also provide breakfast or dinner—depending on the time of day—to those in attendance, including children, young people, and adults who do not have enough money to eat. “In addition to spiritual food, we consider it vitally important to satisfy physical needs,” the ministry leader said. “We are witnessing the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of people, bringing peace, joy, and purpose.” Donations support these evangelism and discipleship efforts.
Provide Daily Sustenance to Missionaries in Latin America
Pray for missionaries who live and serve in remote places. A local missionary who serves as the pastor to a small congregation in a poor, rural community also works as a field harvester to support himself. But he always shares what he sows with his neighbors, providing them with cassava and potatoes to feed their families. His generosity has sparked a revival in the town, with so many attending his nightly Bible studies that they have run out of space. “This community is being transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit,” the ministry leader said. Your donations of $60 or $120 assist missionaries who often struggle to support themselves.
Assist Missionaries With Gospel Outreach in Mexico
Pray the light of Christ will shine through those who serve Him. A 13-year-old girl was abandoned by her mother, a single parent who was addicted to drugs. Her aunt took her in, but she, too, was addicted to drugs. When local missionaries learned of the girl's story, they adopted her into their own family. Now, the girl is provided for and loved. “She is a girl who seeks God, loves, worships, and serves in our congregation and gives testimony of the power of God in her life,” the ministry leader said. Your donations support missionaries as they serve in selfless ways.
Celebrate as the Lost Turn to Jesus in Brazil
Pray for local missionaries as they seek to bring entire communities to the Lord. A local ministry has made exciting headway with several indigenous tribes. As they continue to disciple several families who have become believers, at least one other family has chosen to give their lives to Jesus too. In addition, the missionaries hold literacy classes and crafting activities with the village children and use soccer as a gospel outreach to the youth. In another village, missionaries study the Bible each Sunday with approximately 30 people. Your donations support this gospel work among indigenous people.
Assist Missionaries With Their Compassionate Outreach in Guatemala
Pray for new and future missionaries as they prepare to follow the Lord's lead. A 25-year-old man began attending a children's Bible study led by a local ministry when he was four years old, and he accepted the Lord as his Savior when he was 10. Over the years, the ministry consistently discipled him and now, he is one of the leaders in the ministry's outreach to children with the goal of one day becoming a missionary. “I thank this ministry for teaching me to follow Jesus and make my life change by following a dedicated Christian life,” he said. Donations of $35 or $70 assist local ministries in such compassionate outreach to children.
