Indigenous missionaries in Africa face many challenges in their quest to share Jesus. Islam is rapidly spreading throughout the continent, and radical groups persecute Christians. Many communities are also in bondage to the occult. Poor governance has kept people in deep poverty. Many communities lack basic infrastructure, which has also created opportunities for missionaries to share Christ’s love by drilling wells and opening schools and clinics. They provide food and clothing to the poor and meet many other needs while sharing the hope of the gospel.

Ministry Highlight

In Liberia, an indigenous ministry transformed one of the country’s most dangerous areas, where former child soldiers had organized themselves into gangs of armed robbers. Missionaries brought them food and began organizing soccer tournaments among them. Many of them accepted Christ as Savior. Their leader and 13 others became members of the church the ministry planted in their community.

How You Can Make a Difference

Indigenous missionaries in Africa boldly and courageously address Islam and demonic strongholds, and persevere in the face of frequent natural disasters, famine, drought, and extreme poverty. Your prayers and financial support greatly encourage them, remind them that they are not alone, and strengthen their work so they can reach even more souls for Christ.

From the Mission Field in Africa

Help Provide for Peoples’ Basic Needs in Zimbabwe
Pray the Lord will provide for those in need. While a local missionary shared the gospel in his community, he met several women in desperate need of clothing and medication. Many suffered from backaches, headaches, and blood pressure issues, but none had the finances to obtain medication. The missionary invited them to join him at church and told them about Jesus, the ultimate healer. The women came to church, where church leaders prayed over them and provided them with the much-needed clothing and medication. “You could see the joy on their faces,” the ministry leader said. Your donations of $60 or $120 support missionaries in such kingdom work.
Declare God’s Great Love in Malawi
Pray that those in challenging circumstances will seek comfort from the Lord. Local missionaries organized revivals at several refugee camps and thanked the Lord for the incredible turn-out and response to the gospel message. “We did see people giving their hearts to Christ and we did pray for the needs of the people,” the ministry leader said. “The Lord touched and healed some there as we prayed. We do give the Lord all the glory and praise for all that He did at that camp.” Your donations help missionaries in their evangelistic outreach.
Teach Important Biblical Truths in Kenya
Pray for families to keep the Lord in the center of their lives. A local ministry recently hosted a dinner for 20 couples during which missionaries taught on the importance of upholding the traditional family, with an emphasis on the necessity of using Biblical principles in marriage. Those who attended were encouraged to build families solidly built on the Word of God. “Spreading the supremacy of God in family life and relationships contributes to building families and transforming communities,” the ministry leader said. Your donations help in these important ministry endeavors.
Supply Missionaries With Vital Christian Resources in Nigeria
Pray that hearts will be open to the Word of God. More than 300 people in five Muslim communities have given their lives to Jesus because of audio Bibles they received through a local ministry. “The Lord is doing a great job,” the ministry leader said. Additional missionaries will soon be sent to these communities to disciple new believers, and they pray that more people will give their lives to God. “The Lord is opening doors, and many are coming to Him,” the ministry leader said. “Keep praying.” Your donations help provide resources such as these audio Bibles to the lost.
Help Enemies Reconcile Through Gospel Teaching in Burkina Faso
Pray that local leaders will look to the Lord for guidance. During the past several months, tensions became increasingly volatile between a village chief and the village elders. But because a local ministry is headquartered in the village, missionaries were able to volunteer their building as a neutral place for reconciliation talks. The ministry leader provided spiritual insights that were well-received by both parties and, as a result, the reconciliation meeting was successful. “We praise God for His intervention,” the ministry leader said. A donation of $25 or $50 helps support local ministries as they serve within their communities.
Niger Christian Families Flee to Avoid Jihadist Rule
Armed men on motorcycles slowed as they reached the center of the village. This wasn’t their first stop in this particular region of Niger, and it wouldn’t be their last. Their purpose: to demand that any man 15 years or older either convert to Islam or pay a tax.
