Indigenous missionaries in Africa face many challenges in their quest to share Jesus. Islam is rapidly spreading throughout the continent, and radical groups persecute Christians. Many communities are also in bondage to the occult. Poor governance has kept people in deep poverty. Many communities lack basic infrastructure, which has also created opportunities for missionaries to share Christ’s love by drilling wells and opening schools and clinics. They provide food and clothing to the poor and meet many other needs while sharing the hope of the gospel.

Ministry Highlight

In Liberia, an indigenous ministry transformed one of the country’s most dangerous areas, where former child soldiers had organized themselves into gangs of armed robbers. Missionaries brought them food and began organizing soccer tournaments among them. Many of them accepted Christ as Savior. Their leader and 13 others became members of the church the ministry planted in their community.

How You Can Make a Difference

Indigenous missionaries in Africa boldly and courageously address Islam and demonic strongholds, and persevere in the face of frequent natural disasters, famine, drought, and extreme poverty. Your prayers and financial support greatly encourage them, remind them that they are not alone, and strengthen their work so they can reach even more souls for Christ.

From the Mission Field in Africa

Help Christians Withstand Persecution in Africa
Pray for believers who risk their lives to follow Jesus. When Muslim extremists forbade a group of believers from establishing a church in their village, one of the believers invited all of his Christian brothers and sisters to meet in his home instead. But the extremists learned of his plan, and they murdered him. “He has been killed because he became a Christian and he was providing his house to fellowship,” said a local ministry leader who works in the region where the man was murdered. Your donations of $50 or $100 support ministry among persecuted believers.
Testify to the Lord’s Great Love in Burundi
Pray the truth of the gospel will transform hearts. After a team of local missionaries shared the gospel with a devout Muslim religious leader, the man became determined to learn what was true and what was not. Through studying the Bible and conversing with Christian pastors, he came to know God as the one true and living God. This realization transformed him, and he sought peace between his former Muslim congregation and the Christian community. “His story inspires all who seek truth and fulfillment, demonstrating that even the hardest of hearts can be penetrated by God’s love,” the ministry leader said. Donations assist missionaries in their evangelism efforts.
Share Stories of God’s Love in Zimbabwe
Pray that new believers will look to the Lord for their strength. A team of local missionaries visited a community in which many of the people were addicted to alcohol and sniffing glue. During the missionaries’ visit, however, approximately 35 adults gave their lives to Jesus after they heard the gospel story of the prodigal son. The missionaries gifted the new believers with New Testaments and Bibles, praising the Lord for his great compassion. “We thank the Lord that He still loves them the way they are,” the ministry leader said. “We pray they will become constructive and focused.” Your donations of $50 or $100 assist missionaries in their service to the lost.
Spread the Gospel Message in Malawi
Pray the power of the Holy Spirit will transform the lost. At a recent outdoor revival meeting, 11 people gave their lives to Christ and many more asked for prayer from the local missionaries who hosted the event. “The Lord touched many people there at the point of their needs,” the ministry leader said. “As in Bible days, the Lord is always moving with compassion upon the people.” The missionaries held a similar service at a church the next day during which many people came forward to dedicate their lives to Jesus. Donations of $25 or $50 support evangelism events such as this.
Help the Broken-Hearted Find Peace in Ghana
Pray for the lost to hear and receive the gospel message. More than 2 million people across several regions in the country listen to a local ministry’s radio station each week. Among the aired stories is the Trauma Healing Project, which discusses trauma, its effects, and how to manage it. The ministry has partnered with several other ministries to provide Bible readings on air as well as to increase awareness via social media. “We are exploding the air waves with the gospel of Jesus Christ in many forms,” the ministry leader said. Your donations support such evangelism and outreach.
Provide Life-Changing Skills in Niger
Pray for the vulnerable and disabled as they seek better ways to support themselves. Widows of deceased soldiers are learning vocational skills through a local ministry’s new program that teaches, for example, sewing, hand weaving, literacy, cooking, and embroidery. Because of this training, the 65 participants—including 15 women with disabilities and their daughters—will now have the skills necessary to earn an income without having to resort to begging on the streets. “The local authorities have expressed their gratitude for this effort,” the ministry leader said. Your donations support ministry work such as this.
