Indigenous missionaries in Africa face many challenges in their quest to share Jesus. Islam is rapidly spreading throughout the continent, and radical groups persecute Christians. Many communities are also in bondage to the occult. Poor governance has kept people in deep poverty. Many communities lack basic infrastructure, which has also created opportunities for missionaries to share Christ’s love by drilling wells and opening schools and clinics. They provide food and clothing to the poor and meet many other needs while sharing the hope of the gospel.

Ministry Highlight

In Liberia, an indigenous ministry transformed one of the country’s most dangerous areas, where former child soldiers had organized themselves into gangs of armed robbers. Missionaries brought them food and began organizing soccer tournaments among them. Many of them accepted Christ as Savior. Their leader and 13 others became members of the church the ministry planted in their community.

How You Can Make a Difference

Indigenous missionaries in Africa boldly and courageously address Islam and demonic strongholds, and persevere in the face of frequent natural disasters, famine, drought, and extreme poverty. Your prayers and financial support greatly encourage them, remind them that they are not alone, and strengthen their work so they can reach even more souls for Christ.

From the Mission Field in Africa

Support the Body of Christ in Kenya
Pray for believers to trust in the Lord’s provision. A local believer suffered from chronic wounds on his legs for 12 years and spent a large amount of money on doctors who were unable to heal him. Last year, his condition worsened until he could not walk. “He testified that he reached a time when he could not pray asking God to heal him,” the ministry leader said. “He changed his praying to ‘Father, may your kingdom come and Your will be done!’” Within several weeks, he underwent a miraculous healing and now testifies about Jesus, the Great Healer. Your donations support ministries as they uphold local bodies of believers.
Break the Bonds of Spiritual Confusion in Gambia
Pray for new believers as they seek a deeper relationship with Jesus. A Muslim man contacted a local missionary because he had questions about God. He eventually gave his life to Jesus, but he still struggled to reconcile his own Islamic education with his newfound faith. To help him, the ministry introduced him to another former Muslim who began to disciple him. “The man told him he needed to set aside his Islamic knowledge and seek to know God’s word in truth,” the ministry leader said. Because of the man’s discipleship, this new believer later led 12 Muslims to faith in Christ. Your donations of $50 or $100 support evangelism and discipleship such as this.
Tell of Christ’s Forgiveness and Love in Zimbabwe
Pray the lost will hear the truth of the gospel and repent. Missionaries from a local ministry work tirelessly to preach the truth of Jesus Christ to the lost, many of whom have been led astray by churches that claim to be biblical but use divination and sorcery to entice people to their beliefs. “Many have left their churches to attend these churches and their services,” the ministry leader said. “There is a huge cry for repentance for these souls for following and believing a lie.” Your donations support local missionaries in their evangelism efforts.
Assist With Gospel Service in Burkina Faso
Pray for church planters in difficult times. Despite increasing extremist violence, a local ministry recently organized a church planting training event in which 30 people participated. As part of the program, each person was also trained in a practical skill of their choice to help them establish and support themselves in the communities to which they are sent. Some learned restaurant management, beading, tailoring, or shoemaking, while others learned carpentry and vegetable gardening. “We praise God that all graduated,” the ministry leader said. “We are progressively sending them out to relatively safe areas to start their ministries.” Your donations support these ministry endeavors.
Help Missionaries Be the Hands of Jesus in Zimbabwe
Pray the Lord will provide for the suffering and destitute. As a team of missionaries went door-to-door to pray for people, they came upon a destitute family with four children. The father suffered from kidney problems but could not afford a specialist, the home had no lights, and the children had no food. The missionaries collected solar panels to provide the family with light, they brought them groceries, and they purchased pain medication for the father. “We were very tearful when we left,” the ministry leader said. “But God will come through for them.” Your gifts enable local missionaries to provide life-changing resources to people in need.
Urge Hardened Hearts Toward the Cross in Nigeria
Pray the lost will be transformed by the power of the gospel. Villages in the northern part of the country that were once nearly 100 percent Muslim have been converted to Christ through audio Bibles distributed by a local ministry. “Three villages already have churches planted,” the ministry leader said. “So many people who have audio listening groups understand the persuasion of God’s word. The Lord is doing wonders among the nations.” Your donations support local missionaries in their evangelism to unreached people.
