Indigenous missionaries in Africa face many challenges in their quest to share Jesus. Islam is rapidly spreading throughout the continent, and radical groups persecute Christians. Many communities are also in bondage to the occult. Poor governance has kept people in deep poverty. Many communities lack basic infrastructure, which has also created opportunities for missionaries to share Christ’s love by drilling wells and opening schools and clinics. They provide food and clothing to the poor and meet many other needs while sharing the hope of the gospel.

Ministry Highlight

In Liberia, an indigenous ministry transformed one of the country’s most dangerous areas, where former child soldiers had organized themselves into gangs of armed robbers. Missionaries brought them food and began organizing soccer tournaments among them. Many of them accepted Christ as Savior. Their leader and 13 others became members of the church the ministry planted in their community.

How You Can Make a Difference

Indigenous missionaries in Africa boldly and courageously address Islam and demonic strongholds, and persevere in the face of frequent natural disasters, famine, drought, and extreme poverty. Your prayers and financial support greatly encourage them, remind them that they are not alone, and strengthen their work so they can reach even more souls for Christ.

From the Mission Field in Africa

Provide Life-Changing Skills in Niger
Pray for the vulnerable and disabled as they seek better ways to support themselves. Widows of deceased soldiers are learning vocational skills through a local ministry’s new program that teaches, for example, sewing, hand weaving, literacy, cooking, and embroidery. Because of this training, the 65 participants—including 15 women with disabilities and their daughters—will now have the skills necessary to earn an income without having to resort to begging on the streets. “The local authorities have expressed their gratitude for this effort,” the ministry leader said. Your donations support ministry work such as this.
Train Ministry Workers to Lead Their Flocks in Cameroon
Pray for Christian workers as they learn new skills to shepherd believers. A pastor studying at a local ministry’s Bible school returned home to find the local church not only in a crisis of leadership but also dealing with sin within its choir and family problems among its members. Because of the pastor’s training at the Bible school, he felt confident to preach on the implications of the issues the church was facing. “At the end of that service, the Holy Spirit touched hearts,” the pastor said. “There was reconciliation between the leaders and inside families and a new commitment to follow Jesus.” Donations of $60 or $120 support such evangelism and discipleship training.
Ignite Souls for Almighty God in Zimbabwe
Pray the poor and vulnerable will put their hope in Jesus. A single mother who lived in a plastic house in a region of abject poverty traveled with her baby almost 600 miles to find a local ministry. She decided to take the long journey after she met a missionary from the ministry who came to her village to minister to the people and share the gospel. “She remembered the works that were done through him,” the ministry leader said. “We were so happy to see her when she arrived.” Your donations of $25 or $50 help missionaries share the gospel locally and in remote areas.
Share the Lord’s Goodness in Malawi
Pray that the abundant joy of the Lord will flow through His people. The leader of a local ministry visited a small rural church and worshipped with the congregation as the rain fell outside. “They rejoice in the Lord for tin sheets as their roof,” he said. “They can worship the Lord with no rain getting inside. Before, they had a grass roof, but the Lord has been so good to His people.” During the service, seven people gave their lives to Jesus, several were healed of physical ailments, and the ministry leader distributed Bibles to those who did not have one. Your donations support such joyful kingdom work.
Support Believers Through Fear and Hardship in Nigeria
Pray for persecuted Christians whose lives are in constant danger. Terrorist groups continue to target Christian communities, forcing many families to flee their homes while those who remain behind live in constant fear of attack, rape, kidnapping, and extortion. “The incessant kidnappings and demands for ransom have left the people impoverished,” a local ministry leader said. “In many cases, even after the ransom is paid, the victims are still killed or the person who brought the ransom is kidnapped and more money is demanded. This has created a sense of hopelessness and despair among the communities.” Your donations help local missionaries assist persecuted Christians.
Celebrate Spiritual Revivals in Liberia
Pray that those who witness the power of God will give their lives to Him. While missionaries led a revival, a man bitten by a water snake was brought to them. The doctors were unable to help him, and the family hoped the missionaries could assist. The missionaries prayed the Lord would heal the man, and a miracle occurred: the man was healed. “That alone moved the villagers with joy to surrender their lives to Jesus,” the ministry leader said. “Yes! There’s power in prayer.” Your donations of $25 or $50 support missionaries as they share Jesus with the lost.
