Indigenous missionaries in Africa face many challenges in their quest to share Jesus. Islam is rapidly spreading throughout the continent, and radical groups persecute Christians. Many communities are also in bondage to the occult. Poor governance has kept people in deep poverty. Many communities lack basic infrastructure, which has also created opportunities for missionaries to share Christ’s love by drilling wells and opening schools and clinics. They provide food and clothing to the poor and meet many other needs while sharing the hope of the gospel.

Ministry Highlight

In Liberia, an indigenous ministry transformed one of the country’s most dangerous areas, where former child soldiers had organized themselves into gangs of armed robbers. Missionaries brought them food and began organizing soccer tournaments among them. Many of them accepted Christ as Savior. Their leader and 13 others became members of the church the ministry planted in their community.

How You Can Make a Difference

Indigenous missionaries in Africa boldly and courageously address Islam and demonic strongholds, and persevere in the face of frequent natural disasters, famine, drought, and extreme poverty. Your prayers and financial support greatly encourage them, remind them that they are not alone, and strengthen their work so they can reach even more souls for Christ.

From the Mission Field in Africa

Praise The Lord Alongside New Believers in Ghana
A native ministry organized a four-day convention and spent many days training ushers, counselors, prayer warriors, and other committees to ensure the event ran smoothly. “Praise the Lord!” the ministry leader said following its conclusion. “The Lord ministered and won many souls to the glory of God.” Among the 45 people who decided to give their lives to Christ was a prominent and respected man from a nearby town. “He is now a new being in Christ,” the ministry leader said. Your donations support evangelism and discipleship such as this. Pray the lost will be transformed by the power of the cross.
Deliver Critical Aid During Tumultuous Times in Niger
With many areas of the country facing insecurity and upheaval caused by famine and political turmoil, people have great difficulty finding enough food. One native ministry aims to help those most in need through providing resources that will help sustain them through difficult times, such as goats for income-generating purposes. Recently, the ministry also assisted 884 families through the distribution of rice, beans, and oil. “The people are very thankful and relieved to find help in this critical situation!” the ministry leader said. Donations of $35 or $70 help missionaries provide aid to the displaced and vulnerable. Pray that aid such as this will open the door to share the gospel message.
Assist Faithful Believers Amid Difficulty in Zambia
Pray that those in difficult circumstances will be encouraged by the great love of God. After a woman gave her life to Jesus, her husband—a Muslim—divorced her. As a result of the divorce, she lost all of her belongings. A local ministry helped her start a small business to support herself, and now, not only does she testify to the great love of God, but she also opened her home for regular Bible study and fellowship. “We have seen many coming to hear the word of God [in her home],” the ministry leader said. Donations of $50 or $100 are needed to help ministries assist those in need.
Assist Brave Believers Persecuted for Their Faith in Africa
Pray that believers will stand strong in the face of persecution. Hundreds of Christian families fled their villages after Islamic extremists implemented a law requiring men over the age of 15 to either pay a tax or convert to Islam. “They came to tell us to practice their religion,” one local pastor said regarding the extremists. “We told them that we would never do it.” The families are currently living in makeshift camps where shelter is poor and food is scarce. Your donations provide aid to persecuted Christians.
Draw Believers Into Deeper Relationship With Christ in Chad
Native missionaries attended a recent conference to gain a deeper understanding of discipleship and the importance of developing strategies on how to follow up with new believers. During their time together, the missionaries led one another in morning devotionals before they turned their attention to the main speaker, who discussed the motivation behind and the different phases of discipleship, as well as the basic principles of intercultural communication. “Glory and honor be to God for the success of this missionary training program,” the ministry leader said. Donations of $25 or $50 enable missionaries to participate in evangelism and outreach. Pray these events will be a source of joy and encouragement for Christian workers.
Support Outreach to the Lost in Mali
Native missionaries distributed hygiene products such as soap, medicine, mosquito nets, and sleeping mats at a prison in which 184 inmates are housed. Later, as one of the missionaries presented the gospel, the prisoners initially mocked him. But he did not stop because he believed the power of God would change their hearts. Eventually, all became silent as his words began to resonate. “When the last word was pronounced, everyone shouted loudly ‘Amen!’” the ministry leader said. “This is all that the power of God is capable of accomplishing.” Your donations support outreach to the lost. Pray for hearts to be open to the good news of Jesus.
