Indigenous missionaries in Africa face many challenges in their quest to share Jesus. Islam is rapidly spreading throughout the continent, and radical groups persecute Christians. Many communities are also in bondage to the occult. Poor governance has kept people in deep poverty. Many communities lack basic infrastructure, which has also created opportunities for missionaries to share Christ’s love by drilling wells and opening schools and clinics. They provide food and clothing to the poor and meet many other needs while sharing the hope of the gospel.

Ministry Highlight

In Liberia, an indigenous ministry transformed one of the country’s most dangerous areas, where former child soldiers had organized themselves into gangs of armed robbers. Missionaries brought them food and began organizing soccer tournaments among them. Many of them accepted Christ as Savior. Their leader and 13 others became members of the church the ministry planted in their community.

How You Can Make a Difference

Indigenous missionaries in Africa boldly and courageously address Islam and demonic strongholds, and persevere in the face of frequent natural disasters, famine, drought, and extreme poverty. Your prayers and financial support greatly encourage them, remind them that they are not alone, and strengthen their work so they can reach even more souls for Christ.

From the Mission Field in Africa

Transform Entire Villages With The Gospel Message in Congo
When missionaries arrived in one village, they shared the gospel house by house, reading Scripture with families who invited them in and answering spiritual questions. One man who claimed to already be a Christian realized he was not following Christ as he should and, after he confessed to his addictions and adultery, he asked the missionaries to leave him a Bible. In another village, missionaries established three new churches, with believers meeting in sheds or under the trees. Your donations support missionaries in their evangelism efforts. Pray they will trust God to satisfy their needs as they serve Him.
Bring The Lost Out Of Spiritual Darkness in Burkina Faso
A 90-year-old follower of witchcraft buried an ear of corn in a termite mound with the expectation that as the termites ate it, the soul of a young Christian man in his village would be destroyed. But the following week, he was amazed to find the corn was still intact. Several days later, he met a missionary and—to the surprise of all—accepted the invitation to attend a church meeting, where he confessed his plan and decided to follow Christ. His experience and conversion were compelling testimonies to the power of Christ over witchcraft. Donations of $25 or $50 support evangelism and discipleship in places steeped in spiritual darkness. Pray for the Lord’s protection over them.
Help Expand God’s Kingdom in Ivory Coast
A tribal priest who practiced witchcraft was a persecutor of Christians and the reason a native ministry was unable to plant a church in his village. But as missionaries led a revival in another town, his pregnant wife became ill and, after the doctor said he could not heal her, she was brought to them for help. The missionaries prayed over her, and she delivered a healthy baby boy. Her husband was so awestruck that he became a follower of Christ and now serves the Lord. Your donations support indigenous missionaries as they preach the word of God. Pray they will continue to be bold and disciplined in their work.
Serve The Poor And Weary in Chad
Workers from a native ministry organized an assistance operation for refugees who fled into Chad from a nearby country to escape violence and destruction. The missionaries provided rice, macaroni, sugar, and soap to 22 orphaned children, 40 widows, 15 nursing mothers, and a missionary couple. In addition, more than 2,000 people who fled hostilities in local villages received rice and oil. “Glory be given to the Lord who has made it possible for this help to reach the needy directly,” the ministry leader said. Donations of $35 or $70 help missionaries provide compassionate aid. Pray that Christ’s love will be revealed through Christian workers’ service.
Encourage Believers Amid Their Trials in Nigeria
A man and his wife led five people to the Lord through the use of audio Bibles, but the new believers were no longer welcome in their homes. Though missionaries established churches near their villages, to attend them would also be too dangerous. “The Lord is doing great things among their people using audio Bibles and our missionaries,” the ministry leader said. “Pray for this work and help us move forward.” Donations assist believers persecuted for their faith. “Pray for their safety and for the salvation of others,” the ministry leader requested.
Provide Aid To Impoverished Villages in Africa
A native ministry sent a team of Christian workers to an area of extreme poverty in which alcoholism is rampant. While there, the missionaries ministered to the people by providing them with Bibles and distributing food, clothes, and shoes. Many of the people were grateful not only for the physical help but also the Bible teaching they received. “Praise the Lord,” the ministry leader said. “God is good all the time.” The missionaries also assigned local pastors to shepherd and assist those struggling with alcohol addiction. Donations of $35 or $70 support outreach to the needy. Pray the lost will give their lives to Jesus.
