Indigenous missionaries in Africa face many challenges in their quest to share Jesus. Islam is rapidly spreading throughout the continent, and radical groups persecute Christians. Many communities are also in bondage to the occult. Poor governance has kept people in deep poverty. Many communities lack basic infrastructure, which has also created opportunities for missionaries to share Christ’s love by drilling wells and opening schools and clinics. They provide food and clothing to the poor and meet many other needs while sharing the hope of the gospel.

Ministry Highlight

In Liberia, an indigenous ministry transformed one of the country’s most dangerous areas, where former child soldiers had organized themselves into gangs of armed robbers. Missionaries brought them food and began organizing soccer tournaments among them. Many of them accepted Christ as Savior. Their leader and 13 others became members of the church the ministry planted in their community.

How You Can Make a Difference

Indigenous missionaries in Africa boldly and courageously address Islam and demonic strongholds, and persevere in the face of frequent natural disasters, famine, drought, and extreme poverty. Your prayers and financial support greatly encourage them, remind them that they are not alone, and strengthen their work so they can reach even more souls for Christ.

From the Mission Field in Africa

Build Up The Body Of Believers in Uganda
A man addicted to alcohol was transformed after he heard the gospel from native missionaries. He became a leader in the local church and encourages his neighbors to attend worship services with him. A woman stopped consulting with witch doctors when she chose to follow Christ. Now she sings in the choir. These are just two examples of Christian workers’ impact on the people they serve. “The community has a heart for God now because we are seeing the aroma of Christ in them,” the ministry leader said. Donations help sustain churches such as this one. Pray that God’s love will overflow through the fellowship of believers.
Support Community Outreach in Zimbabwe
In one community, drinking and prostitution are rampant, and to reach the local people, native missionaries use feeding programs as an outreach tool. Before each meal is served, the ministry workers preach about the goodness of the Lord and give those present the opportunity to give their lives to Christ. When one woman who worked as a prostitute to feed her family learned of the program, she not only participated in it, but she chose to follow Jesus. Now she helps other women who continue to depend on prostitution for their livelihood. Your donations help ministries with outreach programs like this. Pray that their evangelism will be fruitful for the kingdom.
Support Outreach to Local Communities in Cameroon
A native ministry works alongside a local church in a community where people struggle to find food and clothes, and where there is no electricity or hospital. One of the most pressing issues is the lack of access to clean water. “People are dying because of the water crisis,” the ministry leader said. The ministry has built one well in the community in an effort to make access to water easier, and they hope to build more. Your donations enable missionaries to assist communities with these life-changing endeavors. Pray that missionaries will trust in the Lord’s provision as they seek to assist those in need.
Assist Missionaries With Their Kingdom Work in Africa
As native missionaries journeyed three hours to visit a new church plant, their car broke down, significantly delaying their arrival. But the church family had not given up hope they would come and were still waiting when the missionaries arrived. The ministry leader preached and distributed Bibles and gospel tracts, and the pastor of the church was encouraged by the missionaries’ presence. “From these remote villages there will be people in heaven as a result of the gospel,” the ministry leader said. Donations of $60 or $120 support missionaries as they travel to remote areas to share Jesus. Pray the Lord will protect them as they obey the Great Commission.
Help Indigenous Missionaries With Community Outreach in Uganda
Every Saturday, a native ministry feeds 2,000 children in their community and engages them with activities throughout the entire day. Many of the children come from the surrounding slums and often carry some of the provided food home to their parents as well. “Feeding the community has been a game changer,” the ministry leader said. In addition to providing meals, Christian workers organize sports and talent events, Bible studies, and spiritual counseling and guidance. Your donations support evangelism and community outreach such as this. Pray that the gospel seeds planted in children will take root and flourish.
Encourage The Persecuted To Stand Firm in Africa
A young Muslim woman moved in with her cousin, a believer, and became so intrigued by her faith in Christ that she chose to follow Him too and was baptized. But when her family learned of her decision, they had her arrested so that they could forcibly take her home, where she was insulted and beaten. Her mother finally demanded the abuse stop and urged the other family members to release the young woman. They agreed, and she was able to return to her cousin’s town, where she can now live more freely as a Christian. Your donations assist persecuted Christians. Pray they will stand firm in their faith despite their trials.
