Indigenous missionaries in Africa face many challenges in their quest to share Jesus. Islam is rapidly spreading throughout the continent, and radical groups persecute Christians. Many communities are also in bondage to the occult. Poor governance has kept people in deep poverty. Many communities lack basic infrastructure, which has also created opportunities for missionaries to share Christ’s love by drilling wells and opening schools and clinics. They provide food and clothing to the poor and meet many other needs while sharing the hope of the gospel.

Ministry Highlight

In Liberia, an indigenous ministry transformed one of the country’s most dangerous areas, where former child soldiers had organized themselves into gangs of armed robbers. Missionaries brought them food and began organizing soccer tournaments among them. Many of them accepted Christ as Savior. Their leader and 13 others became members of the church the ministry planted in their community.

How You Can Make a Difference

Indigenous missionaries in Africa boldly and courageously address Islam and demonic strongholds, and persevere in the face of frequent natural disasters, famine, drought, and extreme poverty. Your prayers and financial support greatly encourage them, remind them that they are not alone, and strengthen their work so they can reach even more souls for Christ.

From the Mission Field in Africa

Help Parents Learn A Trade in Africa
A widowed mother of six children completed two years of training and received a sewing machine upon graduation from her program. Now, she is able to support her family. Another woman graduated from a cooking program and found work as a chef. These women are two of the many students between the ages of 5 and 29 who have completed or are currently in an educational or vocational program with the help of a native ministry. Donations of $25 or $50 help support community engagement opportunities such as these. Pray for Christian workers who lead such projects.
Transform Communities Through Outreach Events in Cameroon
A mentally ill homeless woman announced that she wanted to accept Jesus as her Savior during an altar call at an evangelism event. When asked if she believed God could deliver her from her troubles, she said yes. Despite the mockery that erupted from other attendees, a missionary prayed with her, and she was instantly delivered. After she was properly clothed by the ministry team, she was presented to the crowd, and “many came to Christ through her testimony,” according to the ministry leader. Donations are needed to help support missionaries in their gospel outreach. Pray for those who witness Christ’s transformative power.
Restore Broken Relationships in Zimbabwe
A woman abused by her husband learned of Christ and accepted Him as Savior through the evangelism of native missionaries. She then became involved in a women’s ministry and learned of the power of prayer and the importance of committing your spouse to the Lord. Six months later, her husband accepted Christ. Now, the woman has learned to bake cakes, which she believes is a talent gifted to her by God, and she and her husband work in the catering business together. “God remains God and can surprise His people,” the ministry leader said. Your donations help support missionaries’ discipleship efforts. Pray for the restoration of relationships in Christ’s name.
Equip Native Pastors For Evangelism in Africa
The Lord is doing great things in Africa through native missionaries who travel village to village distributing Bibles, praying with the people, and training pastors and missionaries. During one such visit, Christian workers saw nine people—including the chief—put their faith in Christ. In another village, a ministry leader led a training session with pastors, and in yet another place, four pastors visited a new and growing church. “It encourages us here in the mission field to know that you folks are praying for us,” one of the pastors said. Donations of $50 or $100 help develop evangelism opportunities. Pray that Christian workers will be filled with the joy of the Lord.
Support Traumatized Victims Of Violence in Nigeria
Kidnappings and terrorist attacks have led many in Nigeria to live in constant fear, but native missionaries continue to share the gospel and offer humanitarian aid. “Our missionaries have continued to move in and do their work sacrificially as it is no longer a choice but to them, is a command to go ye and make disciples,” the ministry leader said. Missionaries will soon undergo trauma healing training so that they are always prepared to minister to those affected by traumatic events. Your donations help train workers in such endeavors. Pray that their compassion opens hearts to the gospel.
Equip Missionaries For Evangelism in Ethiopia
The wife of a high-ranking official and member of an esteemed Muslim family became interested in Jesus because of the stories about him in the Quran. She asked her Christian neighbor for a Bible, and John 3:16 impacted her so much that she visited three missionaries to discuss the gospel. Not long after, she experienced a series of dreams that affirmed her decision to follow Christ. But because of her conversion, her family accused her of becoming an infidel and burned her home. Now, she lives in another city and preaches about her experience and love for Jesus. Your gifts help native missionaries share the gospel. Pray for those boldly preaching the Word of God.
