Indigenous missionaries in Africa face many challenges in their quest to share Jesus. Islam is rapidly spreading throughout the continent, and radical groups persecute Christians. Many communities are also in bondage to the occult. Poor governance has kept people in deep poverty. Many communities lack basic infrastructure, which has also created opportunities for missionaries to share Christ’s love by drilling wells and opening schools and clinics. They provide food and clothing to the poor and meet many other needs while sharing the hope of the gospel.

Ministry Highlight

In Liberia, an indigenous ministry transformed one of the country’s most dangerous areas, where former child soldiers had organized themselves into gangs of armed robbers. Missionaries brought them food and began organizing soccer tournaments among them. Many of them accepted Christ as Savior. Their leader and 13 others became members of the church the ministry planted in their community.

How You Can Make a Difference

Indigenous missionaries in Africa boldly and courageously address Islam and demonic strongholds, and persevere in the face of frequent natural disasters, famine, drought, and extreme poverty. Your prayers and financial support greatly encourage them, remind them that they are not alone, and strengthen their work so they can reach even more souls for Christ.

From the Mission Field in Africa

Support Missionaries as They Share Jesus in Burkina Faso
Pray for missionaries as they work together to reach people for the gospel. Approximately 75 pastors recently attended a conference to discuss their work and learn new ways of how they might work together to further the Lord’s kingdom, an event that was part of an indigenous ministry’s efforts to bring together its missionaries from across the region for fellowship and collaboration. “This was an encouraging time,” the ministry leader said. “We are grateful that all events and meetings went well and were a blessing to those who attended.” Your donations assist ministries as they organize and lead important discipleship events.
Supply Critical Aid to Those in Need in Zimbabwe
Pray for children in need. An increasing number of children attend an indigenous ministry’s feeding program as the ability to find and afford food grows more difficult. “We are experiencing a serious drought for food,” the ministry leader said. Through the dedicated service of ministry volunteers who cook for the program, children not only receive a meal, but they also learn about the love of Jesus. “Many of these children come from broken homes,” the ministry leader said. “The ministry of feeding is a wonder, helping these children to know God and love their parents. We thank the Lord.” Donations of $35 or $70 are needed to support outreach such as this.
Share the Joy of the Lord in Liberia
Pray that those who witness the Lord’s power will be transformed. A desperate mother brought her child to an indigenous ministry’s revival meeting in hopes they could heal him. “According to the mother, the child was sick for seven years, possessed by an evil spirit,” the ministry leader said. “It would throw the child in the water or fire. The spirit will kill this child.” At the revival, missionaries prayed for the child, and the Lord healed him. On witnessing this miracle, 189 people gave their lives to Jesus. “To God be the glory!” the ministry leader said. Your donations of $25 or $50 support opportunities for ministries to bring people to Jesus.
Provide Critical Aid to the Destitute in Burundi
Pray for ministries as they assist the most vulnerable in their communities. During house-to-house evangelism, local missionaries met a woman who was gravely ill. They took her to the hospital, where doctors confirmed she had breast cancer. After three months of prayer, she was healed, and she gave her life to Jesus and was baptized. But she still lived in poverty and was fearful of how she would survive. The missionaries gifted her with three chickens so she could sell eggs. Now, she is able to support herself and save for her future. Your donations of $35 or $70 support such compassionate outreach.
Give Hope to the Vulnerable in Niger
Pray that those in difficult situations will have their needs met.Ten refugee families, some with disabled family members, were found wandering the streets and in desperate need of shelter. Someone contacted a local ministry, and the ministry leader reached out to a government official to see whether these families could be housed in recently built government housing. Because of the relationship the ministry had built with officials over time, their request was granted, and the families now have a place to live. “Everyone is very grateful for this miracle!” the ministry leader said. “Our God is so merciful!” Your donations support missionaries in their service to those in difficult circumstances.
Support the Body of Christ in Kenya
Pray for believers to trust in the Lord’s provision. A local believer suffered from chronic wounds on his legs for 12 years and spent a large amount of money on doctors who were unable to heal him. Last year, his condition worsened until he could not walk. “He testified that he reached a time when he could not pray asking God to heal him,” the ministry leader said. “He changed his praying to ‘Father, may your kingdom come and Your will be done!’” Within several weeks, he underwent a miraculous healing and now testifies about Jesus, the Great Healer. Your donations support ministries as they uphold local bodies of believers.
